Kiki loved Sonic Cheeseburgers. I would bring one home for lunch and share small pieces of burger with cheese on it.
Arrival Story:
I had just recently lost the cat that I had had for 16 years, and thought it would be nice to get a kitten to fill the void she had left. A good friend of mine's boss's cat had just had kittens. I went to see them and Kiki was just to adorable. I had to wait a couple of weeks before she was ready to leave her momma, but as soon as I could I brought her home. In December 1998, Kiki somehow got out of the house and got lost. After leaving signs everywhere, and putting multiple ads in the paper we had just about given up on ever seeing her again. In the first week of May, she came home. I couldn't sleep, so I went out to the garage to the freezer. I had left the garage door open, and I heard something jump off the top of my Jeep. I walked around the Jeep, and there sat Kiki in the driveway. Everyone I knew got e-mails at 5am that morning with the news.
Bio:
I had been more and more concerned about Kiki losing weight. She just felt like skin and bones where she used to be a fairly chubby kitty. I took her to the vet in mid-March and after doing labwork they found that she was going into kidney failure. Other than a special diet, there was nothing that could be done. Kiki was already down from about 11 pounds to 4.5 pounds. After a couple of weeks, Kiki became more lethargic, and quit eating, no matter what I tried to entice her with. I took her back to the vet and we both agreed that the best thing was to let her go. She died peacefully after the vet gave her the medicine to put her to sleep. Kiki was always special to me because of her history, but I know that I did the right thing.
