She loved to snuggle with Mommy (without the dog!)
Her schnauzer sister, Pokey.
She liked to play with my jewelry when I'd forget to put it away.
Favorite Nap Spot:
Which one? Everywhere was a nap spot for Katie. She slept on my bed a lot.
She liked eating my cereal & leftover fish or chicken on my plate.
Annoying Pokey and "giving" Pokey things to eat.
I lived in an apartment with my little schnauzer, Pokey Sue. My neighbor lady, Beth, was a big cat lover. She had Liza & Honey. We found Katie in the dumpster one day, and up a tree the next day. She was pregnant. Beth talked me into taking her, although I was quite skeptical. Afterall, I had this hyper little jealous dog & I'd never been around cats much at all. She kept saying, "Just until she has her kittens. It'll be any day now!" It was quite awhile before she had her kittens. Turns out, she was skinny because she was so hungry and it made her look further along than she was. Yes, the dog was jealous. Katie was so pitiful at first...she didn't even know how to play. Once the kittens were born, you couldn't keep Pokey away from them. She LOVED those babies. Katie learned to play by watching Pokey and the kittens.
Katie was shy around most people. She liked Beth, she liked my Mother and she liked my friend Karen's purse. When I first met my husband & saw her reaction to him, I knew he was a keeper. :)
It was only after Pokey died that Katie truly came out of her shell. She became very social and made friends with everyone. When we moved to this house, where Sammie & Critter & Henry were already living, I was concerned for her. She was de-clawed and was 15 yrs old. I don't know if it was her age or if they didn't like her, but they never messed with her or hurt her.
She was a sweet kitty and lived to the ripe old age of 18 1/2 before going to the Bridge.
The day my brother came over to get Katie's kittens out of the box springs (that my dog had torn the cover off of) was the day he realized he was allergic to cats.
I don't have any digital pictures of her. These scanned in pics don't due justice to her beautiful green eyes.
Katie is responsible for my love of cats.
This is a picture of my Dad with his kitty, back in the early 1930's.
