Arrival Story:
MORE PICTURES SOON! Gidget arrived, starving, in our driveway one night in the Fall of 2007. She was so skinny and so friendly we had no choice but to feed her. She ate and then quickly vanished. She returned every evening at 7 PM on the dot only to vanish again after a quick bite to eat. We began calling her "Seven" and continued to feed her. When football season got under way we were afraid she would get hurt (or worse) when she darted into the street when neighbors made noise cheering on their teams, so we took her into the garage. A benevolent vet offered to take care of little "Seven," spaying, testing, vaccinating, and chipping her for us. But the vet said it was up to us to find her a home. We sincerely tried our best to find her a loving forever home before we realized she already had one. Before we allowed her inside to live with the rest of the family she kept popping up into the mud room whenever we opened the door, so we began calling her "Poppy." As her health improved, so did her energy level and my husband began calling her "Whiz-Bang." For a while we put those two together and called her "Princess Poppy Von Whiz-Bang." At last my husband discovered that she liked the name "Gidget," so we finally landed there. She is a fabulous little girl, and self-possessed enough to handle herself with our two large boy kitties, TJ and Stevie Raow Vaughn.

Gidget had a rough start in life. We suspect she came from an abusive background. She has two fears that are common among cats, but her reactions to them border on sheer terror. We have promised her that she will always be safe with us, and we will protect her forever. We suspect she was, for the most part, a feral cat when she appeared at our door. She has become extremely loving, and has learned to accept cuddles quite nicely. Because she came to us as a stray, we celebrate her birthday on January 7th, which fit her estimated age when we adopted her, and is the birthday of a very special family member.
