Arrival Story:
The night of Friday, June 13, 2008, I appeared on meowmy's front porch. I was scared and hungry, and I desperately wanted to come inside. Because I was tame, meowmy assumed I was someone's lost pet. She gave me some food, but she didn't let me come into the house. After 3 nights of returning to meowmy's porch desperate and hungry, meowmy took me in and got me checked at the vet. Meowmy posted some "found orange cat" notices, but the only inquiries were for lost males. So eventually I became a member of the Meowler family.

Bio:
I am happy to have the security and comforts of a home, but I am not sure about all the other cats. I am quiet, and I prefer to be left alone. I don't cause any trouble, and there have been no fights between us. I am not as active as the other Meowlers, so meowmy thinks I'm an older kitty. I am grateful for being rescued into a loving home.

Clara’s Concerto

Meowmy had a big performance last night. She came home with some beautiful flowers, which she put into a tall vase.

This morning, I decided it was my turn to play a concerto. I leaped up onto the MIDI piano, which inadvertently had been left on. The opening of my solo piece was low, loud and dissonant—reminiscent of a certain pivotal moment in the song “Charlie Rutlage” by Charles Ives. After a few minutes of silence in the style of John Cage, I continued my concerto into the higher octaves of the instrument, producing combinations similar to the complex, shimmering harmonies of Olivier Messiaen. During a brief reprise in the low register, meowmy started flashing lights at me. That’s when I cut my concerto short and skipped directly to the coda. I walked up to the top of the keyboard and jumped off. It was a brilliant performance!

Where are my flowers, meowmy?

I Have Wonderpur News!

Dear Diary,

I have wonderpur news! There is a handsome orange kitty, who lives in Avon Lake, Ohio, named Fuzz. Fuzz and I have known each other for about 4 months now, but we’ve been just furiends. However, I’ve known for awhile that I liked Fuzz a lot—he is SO cute! *BLUSH* Well, today he asked me to be his girlfuriend! I’m just a shy orangie girl, and I said YES! I am so happy! I am giddy with excitement!
Clara has a boyfuriend, and his name is FUZZ! Thank you Fuzz!
I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep tonight...

Sincerely,
Clara

I Really Am A Pianist!

As many of you may already know from a previous diary entry, I am named after the 19th-century German pianist and composer, Clara Wieck Schumann. Well, this morning, I proved to meowmy that I really am a pianist! You see, meowmy has a MIDI piano that she uses for music input into her computer. Yesterday, she did a music project and forgot to turn off the keyboard when she was done. This morning around 5:15, meowmy was awakened by the beautiful sounds of me playing the piano. Over the next 45 minutes, every time I shifted my weight, sweet tinkly tones emanated from the musical instrument. Meowmy was impressed that for a cat that’s a little bit fat, I actually have a lovely, delicate touch! MOL!

Sincerely,
Clara
