Arrival Story:
A stray feral cat gave birth to kittens in my parents backyard, so I grabbed Niko when he was about 5 weeks old, and took him home. Didnt want to risk having him turn even more feral, by leaving him outside with his mother for too much longer. Hes turning into a great cat, day by day. :)

Bio:
Niko has a severe case of what is called "Play Aggression". And its a condition that sometimes happens in kittens who were taken from their mothers at to early of an age, which robbed him of the discipline from his mother that he needed. We are now planning to get him declawed. I wouldnt do it, except I cant have him ripping up my family, and the carpet even more then he already has. :/ ----------------UPDATE------------ --------------------- Okay so for the most part, I am no longer getting Niko declawed. I dont really feel its necessary to do (even though in his case it kinda is), so since he's been a good kitty lately, and not tearing me up for a change...Ive decided to just see how it works out with him and Niles, and maybe he will calm down a little now that he has a friend to play with. But if his destructive behaviour continues, then I probably will. I'll just have to wait and see.

A look at a day in the life of Niko

Great News! :D

November 25th 2008 12:36 pm   [link to this entry]

Niko has been GREAT these past few days! I am so happy with his progress since weve brought Koda home.

He no longer attacks me, and has actually become quite the lap cat. I cant believe my once "crazy feral" cat, now streches out on my lap and takes a nap! He never did that, even as a kitten.

If you knew Niko, then this would be such an accomplishment. It used to be that I would have to lock him up in his crate when I had guest. (Embarrasing to have to do with a cat!). If I didnt lock him up, he would literally be attacking my guests the whole time! Thats why him just laying on my lap is such a huge deal. His family and friends are SO proud of him! :)

Niko has become quite the parent to Niles. I think hes taken on a motherly role. They'll play and chase eachother like siblings, but in the calmer moments he'll snuggle and clean Koda. Its so sweet. Were very lucky.

I have Niles to thank for this. He has brought great joy into our life, and has made having 5 living beings in a tiny apartment much more bearable (and easier) then it used to be with 4. So this thanksgiving I am thankful for Niles. :]

Well......

November 22nd 2008 2:09 pm   [link to this entry]

I have a lil brother, Niles, and I guess hes alright. He gets mad at me alot because I seem to bug him to much! lol. Hey what can i say? Im a sociable kitty! But we do play, and when im feeling nice enough i'll even let him lay next to me!

Im really happy that mom got me a playmate. Im even nicer to her because of him! But what I am mad at him about is that he gave me fleas!!! YUCKY! You would think that it would be easy to see them on my white fur, but it seems to make it that much harder! Mom is having the hardest time getting them off of us, and it doesnt seem to that help with me biting her while she does it! hehe. Im a naughty boy!

Chloe has been adopted out

November 20th 2008 6:55 pm   [link to this entry]

After much debate, Mom came to the conclusion that Chloe, unfortunately wasn't a good fit for our family. We adopted her because the shelter lady said that she gets along with other cats. And unfortunatley that was not true. I kept trying to play with her, but she wasnt taking to me at all. :(

But its okay though, Mom found her a new home with a really sweet lady named Lydia. She came and met her, and fell in love with her right away. Mom and her agreed that I would do better with a playmate more my age. So Chloe has been adopted. Thankyou so much to everyone who took such a interest in her on here. And hopefully i will find my furever friend soon.

-Niko :)
