Arrival Story:
Minxy's original owner had heart problems and couldn't look after her any more. They gave her up to Best Friends Animal Society (http://www.bestfriends.org/) who looked after her for 10 years until I saw Minxy on their website and adopted her aged 21. I first met Minxy in a Best Friends truck when I went to pick her up at Las Vegas airport. She was jumping and skipping across the tops of the empty dog crates in the back and when she had to go into her carry bag for the flight she snuggled and nuzzled me through the mesh side of the bag.

Bio:
Minxy was a super sweet cat who loved to snuggle and purr. She was a total lap hog and made up for her years in the shelter where she had to compete for lap time. She also loved sleeping on a bed again and especially the goose down duvet. Minxy had absolutely no teeth left - the last few were removed when she was 20. Despite this she could eat kibble with no trouble and actually preferd it to wet food. She' had to relearn her table manners and the first evening she was with me Minxy ran up and grabbed the chicken off my plate. She quickly learned her manners but always cadged like crazy.

Queen of the cats:
When I adopted Minxy I was worried that my other cats would bully her because she was so old and small. When they ran up to sniff at her she stood her ground and hissed at them. It stayed like that for a couple of weeks then Xena (5 years old & 14lb) hissed at her and tried to stare her down. Minxy stared back, made Xena turn and run and then chased her off the sofa. Then Minxy went on a bit of a rampage for about a week and bullied all my cats until they recognised her as their queen. She'd stare at them and if they didn't immediately back down she'd pounce on them. Gogo tried to ignore her and turned her back and got her tail nipped. After that all my young cats were afraid of Minxy and always got out of her way. If they were sitting on the sofa with me when she jumped up they'd jump down so she had me and the whole sofa to herself.

Acupuncture:
Minxy loved acupuncture and would run and greet the vet when she came to the house for her appointments. She'd doze during the sessions and always felt good and had a good appetite after the sessions. My vet thought she was psychic as she'd always shift position so the vet could reach the next spot she was thinking about. Once when the vet was telling me about an immune point on the sole of the foot that she could never get to on cats, Minxy stuck out her leg with her toes splayed out and the bottom of her food pointed at the vet.

To my new furt sister Freckles I leave my crown so that you can be the new queen of the cats in the house.

To my younger sisters, Gogo, Jingo, Sassy & Xena, I leave the large heated bed, the one that I always hogged and never let you share.

To my Olde Furt friends I leave my favorite furry blanket so that they can snuggle on it at Pies breakfast club and Arthurs late night snack.

To mum I leave happy memories of her time with me.

The end of an era

I was still doing well this morning. I ate my breakfast (or rather stole Freckles food) and could jump up on my chair and groomed myself and I looked very happy and pretty.

But late this afternoon I suddenly got very weak and sick and couldn't walk properly. It was like I suddenly lost all my energy and was very tired. Mum took me to the vets and everyone agreed it was my time and they helped me pass peacefully.

I am now an angel and looking forward to being queen of the bridge! My fur is dark again, my teeth are back and I am plump and don't have a skinny butt anymore!

Thanks to all my Catster friends who purred for me while I was sick and don't feel sad now I am gone. I lived almost 22 years, had a great life and enjoyed life to the end.

Thanks for all the purring

Ohhh! I was so excited to come back home from the vets I forgot to thank everyone who's been purring for me. I think all the rumbling scared off the kitty angel of death last night and saved me. I'm so lucky to have such good Catster furrends *wipes tear of happiness from eye* to purr for me, Purrs & headbonks Minxy
