Arrival Story:
Oreo is estimated to be a little over two years old. She was a neighborhood stray at a former co-workers house. I don't believe she was feral, but she may have been abused by the neighborhood kids. This lady was very good with cats like me and soon after regular feedings, she got Oreo to trust her enough to pet her, hold her and bring her inside for short periods of time. Her husband was transferred to another state and she asked if Oreo could live in my backyard. I agreed, got her spayed, Combo tested (Feline Leukemia and Aids which was negative), and vaccinated. She did not yet know me well and I quarantined her for a week in my bathroom during her recovery so I would be able to catch her in order to take her back to the vet to get her stitches out. After that was done she refused to go outside.

Bio:
Slowly but surely she began to trust me, let me pet her, and let me hold her. She is now one of the friendliest cats I have met, but I am the only human she knows. She loves to be held upside down like a baby so she can have her belly rubbed, which I have not come across too much in cats, usually only in dogs. She has stopped hiding under the bed all day and has taken up a permanent roost on the Ab Lounger, but she is startled by loud noises or strangers coming into the house and will disappear until the commotion settles down. This is why I do not beleive she would do well with young children. I have had friends that come over interact with her a little and after a few visits she has warmed up, though she is still a little uncomfortable. I was sure she would need to live with me permanently because of her extreme shyness, but I now feel comfortable that she can be adopted out to a very patient cat-lover that has more room for her, though I will miss her terribly after more than a year of caring for her.
