Just wanted to post a quick update. I'll do a full recount of the last 4 days later on. Everyone and animal is fine. The house and apartment survived with almost no damage, no flooding. The wooden fences are all down. Luckily we have a little courtyard area between our garage and the side of the house and a metal gate that closes off the backyard. Mia can get through the metal gate poles because they are about 8 inches wide but we put up leftover plywood so we can at least let the dogs out there.
We are playing host to a stray boxer puppy that we have named Roscoe for the time being. He is very sweet and gets along well with everyone. Mia doesn't like him but she doesn't like most other dogs at first anyway.
I will post pictures of the damage, etc. later. We have power and cable and internet here at the house. No power at the apartment yet though. We are hoping soon.
We are about to evacuate for Hurricane Ike. We are in a mandatory evacuation zone because we are less than a mile from Galveston Bay. For the time being the plan is to go to Nana and Grandpa's house (they are boarding up the windows as we speak) but we have a hotel room in Austin reserved for Thurs/Fri/Saturday if we feel we really do need to get out of town.
Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We will try to keep in touch.
Wow...a lot has happened since I first came to my new home! Yes, it is my permanent home...I'm not going anywhere!
I came home a little over 3 weeks ago at 1.8 lbs, starving, dirty, and covered in fleas. I spooked very easily and was afraid of everything. Not anymore...
Now I am a fat little boy who weighs 5.6 lbs! I am the most curious little creature Mom has ever met and am totally and completely attached to her. I follow my big brother around everywhere and do everything that he does. You can see that from the pictures on my page! I also really like my doggie sister Mia. She didn't like me at first but after about a week I started to grow on her. Her favorite game is "chase" and she likes to be the chaser. That's okay...I like to be the chasee! We have loads of fun together and are always happy to see each other when she gets home with Mommy!
My brother and I had to go to the vet last weekend because we were very sick. It turns out that I have the Feline Herpes Virus which was causing a lot of sneezing. We both had feline influenza and wormies too. We are almost done with our meds and I am completely back to normal aside from the occasional sneeze.
We are moving to a new apartment in about a week and a half. I'm not quite sure what this means in the long run but I do know that right now we have a TON of boxes in our current apartment! I looove boxes!! My big brother likes them a lot too...so we have been sleeping in them and playing in them a lot. I even tried to snack on one but it wasn't very tasty.
Mom is going to start feeding me a raw diet tonight! I am so excited...she has given me little pieces of raw meat before but wanted to wait to completely switch me until I was completely healthy again.
I guess after we get settled in our new apartment we have to go back to that vet place again. I didn't like it there very much even though my big brother was very calm. I have to get something called "shots." Mom is only going to have me get the ones she thinks are necessary though. When I get a little bit bigger I have to get something done called a "neuter" too. I don't know what that is called but sissy Mia said that her belly hurt after she got her "spay" which is supposed to be the girl version of a "neuter."
I'll try to post more updates soon. For now I'm livin' the good life.
