Arrival Story:
She was here when we moved in. We started feeding our pack of dogs outside and she would come and clean up once they came in. Since then we have befriended her and she trusts us.... I found her 2 kittens! They are so adorable! Since the kittens are getting bigger, I've moved them all inside. They are doing great!

Life & Lessons of Celena

How I became an inside cat!

July 1st 2008 5:17 pm   [link to this entry]

Well I've been watching my outside cat Celena and her two kittens for a few days. While this morning I went to feed her and I noticed that she had moved the kittens?!?!

So I'm running around like a maniac looking everywhere for them...praying nothing happened. While I find her on a stairs that lead up to a porch around the house.. The stairs are not in good condition and cracking and breaking up. Celena and one kitten are on the top and it's nursing, but the other kitten is gone. So I move slow and get close... I hear the other kitten but nothing... I can find her anywhere. Well then the black kitten starts moving toward the stairs and climbs into a small and I mean small crack under the door but above the stairs. She goes in and comes out, so the I think oh no! The other kitten is in there. I move a board and a piece of the broken stairs and OH MY CAT! It drops off 3 feet! The kitten is 3 feet down, this hole is only 3"x5" now because I've moved stuff. I'm panicing and I pick up the other kitten and run down in the basement. Ugh, I don't see a crawl space it's dark.

Oh my, oh my, I'm calling everybody WHAT SHOULD I DO! Mean while, the mom cat, Celena, is slightly freaked because I'm running around with her kitten in my hand. I did not want her to move the kitten again, or worse and for the other kitten to fall down the hole. I find a board and think...well maybe she'll crawl out? I live it there. Ugh, the mom cat goes down there and feeds here because she's screaming by now, but there is no way the mom cat can carry her out.

..... I get a flash light and shine it in the hole, there she is! Okay, now I see a grate, could I cut this crate out? Oh geez, wouldn't the fire department, just love to see me all sweaty and a mess, and I'm saying "Just knock it down, I dont care, knock the foundation of the house out! SAVE THE KITTEN!"...

With the flash light.. I see light? From the window? I go to the window... no wait there has to be a crawl space in the basement!

Running....around the house....in the door....down the basement stairs.... AHHH!!! There is a crawl space! I immediately tell my sister climb in there! No! She says...you, ugh, I'm much bigger than her but who cares! I crawl in and slowly grab the hissing kitten. SAFE!

Running... upstairs.... through the house... out the door... back to the hole! Covering it with boards! Now I don't want the Celena to move them again....

So in the house they go, all 3! I was to scared for the life of those kittens. They are currently in a spare bedroom. I ran to the store and got a litter box, bed, brush, food, and some toys. Celena is amazing. She laid in my lap and let me brush her and she'll lay on her back so I can rub her tummy. Ahhh..life is good again.

*Note: This happened five days ago and everyone is doing great inside!
