Arrival Story:
She was living with a friend of the family and was his beloved kitten. One day his roommate kicked her down the stairs and threw her out in the snow. (Turns out that the roommate was rather abusive to her) Her former owner spent three days in the snow looking for her and finally found her. He knew he couldn't keep her any longer at his house so he brought her to my mother to find her a home. She didn't get along with my mother's cats and she was terrified. My mother called me and I came and got her - she was six months old at that time. She is really my cat's pet! I had my other cat Othello (who was also six months old) and I thought he 'needed a friend' - so I brought Chanel home and told him that she was his "pet" - he looked up at me as if to say "thanks mom!" and he takes care of her to this day.

Chanel has some health problems. She has allergies and asthma and is sometimes very sick. She requires medication daily. She has had some other health problems in the past but she is doing well now. Chanel is black and white, but she has a very unique mark. Her neck is white but she has a perfect black heart on her chin. UPDATE December 2008: Unfortunately, after 13 wonderful years of companionship, Chanel had to leave us in the early part of summer, 2008. Her illness came on suddenly and she didn't suffer long. She was very loved and is still, very missed... especially by her lifelong feline companion, Othello. He misses her GREATLY.

Life has been pretty boring around here - nothing much to write about.
Boring can be good though, it means things are calm and peaceful and unchanged, just the way I like it.
Only new thing to report is about THE HUMAN...
Once again, the human has gone on that extended sabbatical-thing she does every so often - I am NOT happy about this trip she took. She didn't bother to call like she usually does (well, in fairness to her... she did call but our keeper didn't quite know how to use the speakerphone - but still - *I* worried about her and *I* had no idea what was going on!!!).

She was gone nearly two weeks and she came home with VERY little in the way of gifts. NORMALLY she brings home several tins of that special cat food - this time she only brought a few - PLUS I had to bug her for hours before she opened one - I mean I literally had to crawl into the bag! And she thought I just missed her!

She was so tired that she just feel out and that was nice, because we had a good sleep; for ONCE she wasn't tossing all night!

She did come back with an annoying new habit: she keeps saying I weigh a "stone" - I don't know what that means, but I don't like the way it sounds. ANY time she uses the term "weigh" it usually involves that V-E-T person...
Weigh over a what-ever? HOW? She hardly brought any food back!

Been a while!

Been a while since I updated...
...actually, it is my human's fault! She (we) have been a bit stressed - we hae had many things going on lately and it is a little crazy around here - but, we are dealing with it as one big happy feline-human family. It will get better, but my and Othello are still around, and just wanted to check in and say "HI"!

We had a nice holiday season, and I have updated my profile to include a holiday pic! Check it out!

New things???

The human went away for a few days - and now she is rambling on and on and ON about this DOG she saw and wants to bring to our home - apparently it is very small and black and white - "a little baby who looks just like you Chazzie" - as she keeps saying.

I heard her say that "well, maybe if I brought it Chanel would think it was her baby - maybe it would kick start her maternal instinct" - How stupid does the human think I am? Like I don't know a dog is slang for "ackward show-witted (and unattractive) cat"! Maternal instinct? I don't know what that is, but I don't think I have that! - Anyway, I have been staying close to and flooding her with love and attention... even if she did give me a bath the other day (I will forgive her only because I couldn't get that sticky out myself).

it is bad enough she brings that small screeching human over here sometimes - we don't need anything else small, especially if it may make those awful screeching monkey noises. And we don't need ANYTHING else that will take attention away from *me* - The bed is ONLY a queen size (fit for a princess like me!) and between the human and Othello, how much room does she think there is around here????
