Arrival Story: Shortly after Simon died, there was an empty space. No, he could not be replaced, but there was room for somebody else. Oddly, the granddaughter of a friend called and asked if we would be interested in another cat. She described her to me...and I wasn't sure, since I was thinking in terms of another male Siamese, one that I could raise from babyhood. Bella was already a year old. My hubby and I were both going through cataract surgery at the time and couldn't be home to give attention to a new cat...so she was willing to keep her until we were able to take her and give her a trial run. Seems that during this time, Bella was kept in a cage during the day, outdoors, and was brought in and placed in a tiny cat carrier for the night. This broke my heart when I found out...I would have taken her much sooner even though I would not have been home much. At least she would have had the space to run. Anyway...when she finally did bring the cat....Bella acted like she was in heaven. She was off and exploring every square inch of the house...and she found the kitty hammock in the back room that has the windows open to all the bird feeders and the critters that visit our backyard. There was no adapting on her part...SHE WAS HOME!! All she could do was kiss my hands. So Precious.

Bio: We have discovered that Bella's time out of doors in the cage has gotten her very acquainted to the squirrels. So much so that she thinks she is a squirrel. She has no brakes to speak of. When she runs flat out...and comes to a wall...rather than stop...she goes UP! Then, she realizes she can't do the squirrel thing and keep going, or turn around and come down...so she comes flopping down with a crash. Another squirrel behavior that I've noticed...when she senses that all things are not right....ie...Rosie is stalking her....her tail does the squirrel flip flop...exactly the way squirrels do it. She has kept us laughing. We have certainly needed the laughs since we have been grieving Simon so deeply.
