Arrival Story:
I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!!!! HOORAY!!!! :oD ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ Oh, I hope someone will adopt Suki soon!! A co-worker and I found Suki close to our office (I work in downtown Chicago, close to the lake), living outside in some bushes near a building surrounded by construction scaffolding and debris. The kitten was alone, as far as I could determine. I spoke to a couple of workmen and also to a staff member inside one of the buildings -- they had all been seeing Suki for several weeks (and didn't do anything to help her!), but no other cats. Another co-worker and I discovered empty cat food cans behind an electrical box, so apparently someone did care enough to leave food for the kitten. When I first saw Suki, she seemed to know that people bring food because she was trotting about (though keeping her distance), kneading the ground and rolling on the ground, and she was meowing delicately. We put out a bit of chicken salad and a bowl of water purchased on the fly, and I decided I would try to trap her that evening (this was 6/6/2008) after I got off work. I asked my husband to stop at home, retrieve one of my traps from the garage and meet me at the spot where I last saw Suki. After he arrived and I set the trap with some Fancy Feast, Suki walked right into the trap pretty quickly. Hooray! My husband was concerned that I didn't have a real plan of action for this kitten beyond getting her fixed, which was true. But I didn't want to return her (post-spay) to her original location because it seemed too dangerous for her to live there. As it now stands, however, Suki is in our home in the main bathroom. We have two small bathrooms in our 2-bedroom condo (a rehabbed apartment on the top floor of a 3-flat). The main bathroom is the smallest, but our own 3 cats rarely go near or in there--this is important because although our cats live together, they barely tolerate each other and I don't really want them harrassing Suki from under the closed door. Basically, they are non-cat-friendly cats. I've been pretty successful so far in re-socializing Suki. She is more relaxed now and comes out from her "safe place" under the sink while we're in the room with her. She even seems brave enough to want to leave the room and explore what's on the other side! Suki lets us pet her and she walks against our legs, rubbing on them and purring loudly. She loves people! Be sure to read Suki's diary to see how she's progressing, both with socialization and in getting back to a normal weight. And please think about adopting this wonderful young kitten! Send me a message if you're interested...

Yay! I'm so happy that I found my forever home, yesterday, with a very nice young man who I know will take good care of me and give me lots of love. My foster mom is happy for me, but she misses me soooooo much. It's OK, foster mom. I know it will be all right.

Thanks, everyone who viewed my profile and made friends with me.

Favorite way to snuggle

Hi! I was going to tell you all about my favorite way to snuggle with humans that I like. You see, sometimes I get to playing and running around and exploring for a while. Then all of a sudden I see my foster mom (or foster dad) and I get SO happy and excited I have to run over to her really, really fast! Then I go into full-force super-purring mode and climb on her lap, then I clamber my upper body onto my foster mom's shoulder and put my face in her hair. I can't sit still while I'm doing this, though, because I'm so happy and full of goodness and sweetness. I kind of squirm and roll about and purr. See, I have to share these happy feelings with somebody! ((And the other 3 cats in this house don't really want my love at this time, so too bad for them!)) My foster mom really appreciates the snuggles. She thinks it's so cute when I do this. I know when I get adopted I'll give this same love and snuggle-time to my forever mom or family. Hopefully that'll happen soon.

New photos of moi

My foster mom has FINALLY posted some fresh photos of me and is now helping me write this diary entry. How am I supposed to get adopted if she doesn't pay attention to my Catster page?!?!? It's important, ya know...

Anyhow, I like my new photos. Do you? As you can see, some of my photos show my most favoritest toy ever: MOUSIE!!! There are lots of toy mousies in my foster mom's place, but this green and pink mousie is far and away the best. I LOOOOOVE it! I carry it around with me a lot, trilling and purring as I go. I love to play fetch with the mousie, too! My foster mom will throw it to different spots in a room, and I will get so excited and run after it! Then I will pick it up with my mouth and bring it right back to her. Then she will throw it again, and I will bring it back! It's so much fun. Am I a puppy or a kitten?? Ha ha ha ha ha ha... I make myself laugh sometimes...

Did you know a cat doctor told my foster mom I have a heart murmur? Well, foster-mom then took me to a veterinary cardiologist (which I was kind of scared about) who did an MRI on my heart and found out that my heart is JUST FINE! The heart murmur is harmless and I don't need to have any more tests or take any medication. I'm so happy!!!! Foster-mom is super happy, too. My heart is strong and I know I will live a long and healthy life with whoever wants to adopt me.

So, do you want to adopt me? I can bring my mousie and we can play fetch together!

Purrr, purrr, trill....
