indoors Arrival Story: I was foster mommy to Pumpkin and his birth brother Nutmeg. They have been with us since March 22, 2008. They were taken in by the Blount County Humane Society in Oct. 2007. They were part of a large household that were told to be divided by city authorities. They first were housed at the PetSmart adoption center in Alcoa, TN. They didn't tolerate that at all so a wonderful foster mommy named Lindsey took them in. After 4 months she was moving and couldn't take them to her new apartment. That's where we came in. I was talking to a new pet sitter who is very involved in the Blount County Humane Society. I told her we had considered fostering and she told me all about the brothers and how they needed a new home FAST. We talked it over and decided we had room for 2 more in our family. They are adapting to life in our zoo quite well. It didn't take a whole lot of time for us to decide to adopt him and his brother. They are both fitting in quite well and Nutmeg likes to play with Harley and Pumpkin. There are group sleeping piles with numerous cats all snuggled together and all zonked out. Bio: Nutmeg is shy. He likes to be petted if someone else is getting petted though and will vocally tell you so! He's slowly learning to come out of his shell. His brother Pumpkin was the dominant one in the pair and was never stopped when he would push Nutmeg out of the way. I've been socializing the two individually and it's helped Nutmeg a lot. He has a distinct personality that is really coming forward now that he gets one on one time with people. He really has the potential to be an affectionate kitty once his fear abates. I do wonder what the two of them went thru to cause such skittishness. He likes to be played with but only in the room where they first were kept. He lays in the window downstairs and will now let us pet him without bolting immediately. With time I think he will be a warm and loving boy. He and his brother already sleep with me! He's slowly letting us see the "real" Nutmeg and he is loud! He tells you about everything and anything! Lives Remaining: 8 of 9
