so far, i'd say attention. very loving cat.-that's victoria. all i know about simon hedges is that he like IAMS kitten food and hanging out under my shrubbery
being picked up...loves to be petted, but being picked up totally unnerves her.that's victoria. simon hedges? he's annoyed by my camera flash, other than that at this point who can say? he dislikes sudden movement but he's a feral kitten...
the wind chimes that are hanging on a closet door...very noisy. that's victoria. simon hedges has trust issues, and wouldn't dare be relaxed enough to play around me. and has no toys, maybe he plays with leaves, who knows?
Favorite Nap Spot:
under our house, under the bushes that's victoria. i've seen simon hedges napping with his mom on the driveway, when alone he...sleeps under the hedges, where else?
she liked the kittens' Iams dry kitten food well enough...she's also half-starved, so who knows? simon hedges like IAMS kitten food too.
she has the loudest, most expressive voice i've ever heard...i wonder if she wasn't kicked out of her home for incessant chatter? i find it charming, but i suppose it could annoy some people that's victoria. simon hedges squeaks and gives dirty looks.
i'm not 100% sure i AM their guardian...more like a deeply concerned party. victoria , the black cat, is a local stray who has taken to sitting with me while i smoke outside, and loving on me as i love on her. there's no way this cat is feral...but also no way that she has a decent home, as she is far too thin. so tonight i gave in and fed her...and she followed me inside!! she wandered through the house, growled at the other cats but made no aggressive moves, seemed totally unafraid of everyone and everything. used the scratching pads with positive relish, went mad for catnip...but stood at the door and yowled until i had to let her out. too soon to just keep her in, i think. letting her take the lead.
this page is being expanded to include the other neighborhood ferals i've struck up a nodding acquaintance with. if i can get close enough to get a picture, i'll put them up here. my current project is a little grey & white kitten, approximately 3 months old. he shows up at dusk & just before dawn like a good little baby vampire, squealing at me for kitten food. he'll sniff my finger, but i can't touch him yet. if i could snag him, i'd at least introduce him to the backyard, where he can be fed without my being seen (not supposed to feed the complex ferals) and be marginally safer. i'd like to rehome him...rehome? i'd like to find him a home, but as i've said before...can't find a local no-kill shelter. i need to find some sort of cage so he could be isolated from our kitties, try to socialize him and...then? geez, the kittens aren't even LEGAL residents, what am i THINKING?!? UPDATE: the momcat is still around, but she hangs out under my house. it looks for all the world like she's parked her kitten (who i've dubbed "simon hedges") under my hedges. i think she might be trying to fob him off on me, the quintessential "leaving the baby on the doorstep" maneuver. she let me pet her-she wears a collar, belongs to somebody-and afterwards he let me lightly stroke his nose, once. is it just me or is momcat giving me the seal of approval? at his apparent age she's probably out of milk...don't know why she doesn't take him home...maybe they threw him out?(UPDATE: i adopted this kitten, "his" name is now rhymon pearle hedges...MOL...well, she's a longhaired cat, and her fur was so matted...nuff said. rhymon's momcat is a "loosely-owned" indoor/outdoor. she's still alive.)
the little tortoiseshell i just put food out for her when she shows up...far too wild for me to get anywhere near, though she'll lie down and sun herself as long as i stay five feet away or so.
and now there's ayla and her 3 babies...babies have been adopted, i took one...because i AM an idiot...and the other girl and boy went to a friend. i'd take ayla and rehome the other kitten (much simpler) if ayla didn't seem to have decided she wants to be an only cat. she tries to kill rhymon, did attack kaya but now that kaya stood up to her she runs from her...so around other adult cats, right now, she's either aggressive or terrified. go to the ayla diana black page, she is adoptable. pmail for details...this IS a great cat, just probably not for a multiple cat home...at least not yet.
