Arrival Story: Laura Belle was given to me by my grandaughter Summer because her mother cat could no longer nurse her. Belle's mother had Mastitis. Three of her brothers had already died of malnutrition, so we weren't sure if little Belle was going to make it. When I got Laura Belle she was 26 days old and she weighed 7 ounces. I began feeding Belle kitten replacement milk every 1 1/2 to 2 hours from a bottle. She adapted to the bottle quite well. She began to gain weight. After feeding her for one week, she gained 3 ounces. Her meals were getting larger and larger. It was soon apparent that Belle was "out of the woods." I took her in to the Veterinarian, and she gave her a thumbs up, so then we knew for sure that she was going to survive her somewhat shaky start in life. Belle will be six weeks old in two days, and she is thriving. Thank God, our little baby is going to grow into a full sized feline someday! UPDATE: 04/25/09 Belle just celebrated her First Birthday a week ago. Belle is the love of my life (well, besides my husband she is!). She and her sisfur Daisy (born 17 days apart, from a different litter) are the best of friends. They usually sleep all day so that they can terrorize my husband and I, and E.J. and Blue II each night. Belle has totally adapted to indoor living, and has only attempted to go outside once. She has recently noticed the four feral cats living outside, and watches them from the window with interest. She is very affectionate and smart. Belle is quite a bit smaller than her sister Daisy and her brothers E.J. and Blue II. I believe she is already full grown and is going to be a petite feline. Believe me, her size fits her Diva Princess attitude. She is definitely royalty!
Bio: Dad named me Laura Belle after his maternal grandmother. She was a very sweet lady, and my pawrents thought that I looked so sweet and innocent that they named me after her. I went to my furever home when I was 26 days old. My meowmy took real good care of me, and now I am growing fast. She makes me bottles whenefur I get hungry so I am gaining weight. Meowmy told me this week that I have to be "weaned", whatefur that means. She said that I don't get my bottle all the time, and that I have to learn to "lap" up my milk and kitten food from a bowl instead. Oh well, Daisy says it's not so bad. Daisy is my sisfur. She came to live wif us when I had only been here fur six days. She is 17 days older than me, and she is almost twice my size. Meowmy says that I am small and petite fur my age. Daisy and I purrlay togefur like old furiends, and we only just met each ofur! We even snuggle togefur, and sleep side by side. She is my best buddy. I like my big brofurs too. E.J. and Blue II have also started purrlaying wif us little girls efurry night before bed time. They play tag and chase us all ofur the house. Oh, they hissed and growled at us alot when we furst came here, but they have mellowed out, and now they love us. Yep, I like my new furever home...I think I've got my pawrents wrapped right around my tiny paw...hehehe!
