indoors Bio: Am I doing something wrong? I've been here for four years and adopters just pass me by. Some people might think I'm plain. My body is sort of a camouflage color to them. But other people say I have gorgeous dilute tortoiseshell colors that remind them of autumn. I've been told I have beautiful green eyes. And I've got chubby cheeks and my mouth turns up at the corners so it looks like I'm always smiling.
But this isn't about my body image. I'm intimidated by living in a room with so many other cats. They harass me and, when they are feeling stressed, they take it out on me. I'm not sure why. Is it because I'm not as big as most of them? Is it because I have short legs and can't run as fast as them? Or maybe it's because I'm peaceful and don't fight back. I try not to play too much because it makes me even more of a target. That's a pity too because I'm really good at attacking string toys.
When you come to the shelter, you'll probably find me sitting somewhere quietly so I don't draw attention to myself. Don't take it personally that I don't greet you. If you think you might be interested in getting to know me better, you can pet me on the head. I'd like that. I might give you a tiny meow back to thank you. That will be our secret code. Once I get to know you better I will sniff your hair, give you head butts and do my specialty: a half flop-and-roll with a twist so that my head is down and my butt is up.
The people who know me say I'm easy going and have a gentle sweetness. And they like the way I purr and make muffins. I've got lots of good traits and no bad habits. I know I'd blossom in a real home if someone would ever give me a chance.
