Albie & the Chipmunks

I LOVE the Chipmunks! And I always have :-) When I was a baby and still in my "safe room" right after moving in with Mommy, she was playing music on her computer and I went up to the computer and rubbed all over it. I love music :-) Then, Mommy played the Chipmunks Christmas song for me that Christmas and WOW! Love at first listen!! It is my FAVORITE song EVER! I go crazy for it! Whenever Mommy plays it for me, I come running for it and will look for whatever device it is playing on and when I find it, I rub and rub and headbonk and headbonk and rub! I love music, but I don't go crazy like this for any song but this one! Mommy just posted a picture of my listening to it on her computer. I was headbonking her computer before and after the photo! MOL :-) She also has a video of me looking for the source of the song from last weekend. My family had the Christmas music station on the tv and MY SONG came on. So, as usual, I came running and looked all over the family room for it. Then....I FOUND IT. I jumped right up on the tv stand and headbonked the tv over and over! Mommy grabbed her camera when she saw me running and got the whole thing on video! She will *try* to post it as soon as she can.

For those of you who may not know what I am talking about, here is a youtube link to the original (and best!) version of the song: http://youtu.be/CEuGe_aE0JA I hope you all enjoy it! :-)

Toby Update

Toby is home!! Mommy and Granddad picked him up early yesterday afternoon. The vet had a little bit of a hard time taking him off the oxygen, he kept stressing out, but they did get him off of it and finally called to say he was ready to be picked up. He is now on another diuretic which he takes half a pill every other day (weird dosage, right?) and he is also on Viagra, for hypertension, which he takes 25 mg three times a day. The vet said "he is doing well considering his condition." Mommy is choosing to look at that comment in a positive light. Because he is doing well. No, he cannot get better, but he can stay stable for as long as possible. He is a fighter. He is kicking MVD butt!! MOL! Go Toby!!

Thank you to everyone for the purrs and prayers! We really appreciate each and everyone of you :-)

Toby does not write in his diary, but he wanted us to send a special "Thank You" to Huey for his Power of the Paw gift! "Thank you, dood!!" :-)

Toby is in the ICU tonight...

Our doggie uncle, Toby, had to go see his cardiologist today because his tummy was bloated with fluids again. He has also not been eating well for the last few weeks, but especially for the last few days. He has just not been himself the past couple days. So, Mommy and Granddad took Toby to his cardiologist and after they took his BP they gave him some oxygen. Then, they did a tap to drain the fluid from his belly before taking some x-rays. He was better after having the fluid drained but was still in hypertension. So, the cardio suggested leaving him with them overnight to help him stabilize. She is worried about his lungs being under so much pressure and she is worried because his heart is just so HUGE anymore. So, she is giving him time to stabilize before he comes home. Toby is in ICU at the office and is actually in an oxygen tent for the first 12 hours he is there. They will be giving him lasix through an IV and will try to give him his oral meds that he usually gets. The cardio is thinking about starting a new medicine to help with the hypertension. It's called Viagra (yes, the little blue pill! MOL) and since it was originally used for hypertension, this is what the cardio would put Toby on. We will see if she does that. We are hoping that they can get Toby to take his meds like he is supposed to. He takes his meds when he eats and since he has not been eating normal lately, he has not really been getting his meds like he should. Hopefully, after being drained and getting some oxygen, he will feel better and his appetite will come back.

We know we have asked several times before, but we would like to ask for purrs and prayers for our Toby again. We know how powerful the Power of the Paw is and our Toby means so much to us so please keep our Toby in your thoughts... We love you, Toby!!

Tummy Update

I am doing much better today! We think stress may have gotten to me. Grandma is rearranging so much on the main level in order to paint/stain before the new carpet gets here and then on top of all that the Earthquake happened on Tuesday...so we think my tummy may have been reacting to the rearranging on Monday when I had my first little bit of diarrhea and then yesterday was really bad because of the earthquake on top of everything else the day before. The stain that Grandma mentioned me possibly getting into (the mantle took a LONG time to dry...she found me at it...hopefully, just sniffing it) was over the weekend, so I shouldn't have been having issues from it yesterday...it would have been a lot sooner... Mommy just had that stuck in her head because of being such a worrier... Mommy is going to watch me over the next few days and make sure that I continue to do better...If I start having diarrhea again, she will take me to the vet. Because of my immune issues, I am at risk for IBS and so the thought that I had this issue due to stress has Mommy *hoping* that I am okay for good now...that it was just a little bug...but she will be keeping a close eye on me and my poopies!!!

Thanks for all the purrs and comments of concern...We love all of you very much!! We know your purrs helped my tummy get better so quickly!! :-)

Not feeling well...

I'm not feeling too great right now...I have had diarrhea since Monday but was at least acting normal. That is until today. Now I am doing my "I don't feel good, leave me along and let me hide" routine. I am hiding under my Grandparents bed and only coming out long enough to go potty. Grandma has been working on painting/staining on the main level of the house lately and the other day, she was afraid I might have been licking some stain. A couple weeks ago, Mommy caught me licking wet paint! MOL I didn't react to that, but they are afraid I am reacting to the stain I may have gotten into. Bleh! Mommy just had to add my L-Lysine back into my routine because of Skittles moving in (make sure my immune system is nice and strong...just in case) and she is not going to let me have anymore wet food until this clears up. Anymore tips? I have not had diarrhea since I was a baby! That was when I had coccidia so Mommy knew to give me meds for that, but she doesn't really know what is going on now! Possibly the stain...IF I really had gotten into it. But if it's not that...what else could it be? What can Mommy do to make me feel better? She is very worried about me... :-(

Introducing...Skittles!!

Taken from Harry's diary:

"Skittles is one of the kitties that Mommy and Granddad care for at the local SPCA. She was one of the kitties being housed there for a local rescue who needed extra help due to special circumstances (I'm sure Skittles will fill you all in at some point). The lady who runs the rescue is slowly getting the kitties back out of the SPCA and is in need of fosters, and knowing how much Granddad and Mommy love Skittles, she asked if they would mind fostering her. So after a lot of talking with Grandma, they finally convinced her of it and Skittles moved in this past Sunday! She is staying in a room separate from the rest of us for now. Albie can't wait to meet her, he is such a flirt!! I'm very curious about her...but only because I want to know who the stranger is in that room!

Mommy has created a page for her here on Catster and has listed her as adoptable. However, if everything works out and we all get along (meaning all three cats and two dogs), then Skittles will probably stay here!! Mommy and Granddad said she is such a love bug that it would be hard to let her get adopted after having her live here! They have known Skittles since they started to help the rescue back in November. Mommy feels bad that she is alone in a room right now and goes up to visit her often, she can't wait to be able to start introducing her to us so she can finally join us all in the rest of the house!

Mommy has to go vote for the county's Commonwealth Attorney now, but we will update you all more about Skittles later! :-)"

The Largest Earthquake in VA since 1879!!

From Harry's diary:

"Mommy was napping and woke up to being shaken all around the bed! Granddad works at night so he was sleeping, too, and was woken the same way! Grandma was painting in the family room and couldn't figure out what was going on! Mommy had just gotten a new bed today that has a massager...she had fallen asleep to it, so she woke up thinking her bad was malfunctioning. That is, until Granddad came running in saying "What is going on?!?!?" So, Mommy jumped out of bed and ran down the stairs with him...noticing that her floor was covered in stuff from her shelves. Granny was at her volunteer job at the library and we couldn't get a hold of her...but luckily she was allowed to come home as soon as things calmed down. We were so happy to see her home safe!!

Albie and I are still extremely scared right now...we've never been through anything like that! Granddad saw kitties scattering every which way when he got out of bed...Albie ended up under our Grandparents bed...I ended up down in the basement! Mommy just started fostering a kitty on Sunday and that kitty is still hiding under the bed in her room right now...A shelf on the desk in that room fell to the floor scattering everything that had been on it...no wonder the poor thing is so scared!! Plus, she had just been to the vet yesterday and was still recovering from that trauma!(Mommy was going to post a diary for us today about the foster kitty...so she will get to that later...she will also create a page for her so you all can meet her!!)

We hope everyone who has been effected by the earthquake is safe!! Please let us know that you are!!"
