Arrival Story:
Elvis came to me in 1998, about two months, after my beloved cat Honey died of kidney failure. I was planning a move and wasn't really planning on getting another cat right away, but a friend at work had friends who needed to give up Elvis (which wasn't his name at the time). So I ended up adopting him. At first he was very scared and lonely and hid under the bed, coming out only to eat and use the litter box. Then one day, he trotted out and sat on the bed while I was getting ready for work. An Elvis Presley song was playing on the radio, so Elvis became his new name.

Bio:
My little guy was a Dumpster baby. He was rescued from a Dumpster in NYC by a kind passerby who heard his mews and feared that someone had abandoned a baby. He took the cat home to a house with two other cats. The cat stayed with the family about a year, when allergy problems forced the family to cut down on the number of pets. That's how he came to me.

Super Bowl excitement!

My person is very happy because the Giants won the Super Bowl yesterday. She watched part of the game at a friend's house but she came home and she was here when they won. She jumped up and screamed and then people started calling her on the phone. What a racket! I am glad they only play this game once a year! We have a big new TV set and now my person and I spend a lot more time downstairs on the couch watching it. I like hanging out on the couch downstairs with my person, or napping with her, or dozing on the couch in the office when she works on the computer. I just hope I don't get jolted out of sleep by any more cheering, at least until World Series time.

That's a pawsome way to start a new year! Thanks to whoever chose my diary. My person says it's lucky I am an indoor cat today because it is very cold outside. Stay warm, kitties!

Holiday update, and a happy new year to all

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or whatever you may celebrate or not. I know you're probably all in suspense wondering what was in that big box wrapped in green paper that my person found under the tree for me. It was my very own fountain! It bubbles and circulates the water so now I don't have to climb on the sink and wait for someone to turn on the tap so I can have running water. Of course I always have a big bowl of water available, but I like to drink from a fountain so it was perfect!
I got so many good presents. I got a catnip toy from my person's friend Susan, a colorful ball from our neighbor dog Cougar, delicious treats from my 'cousins' Savvy and Simba, and TWO stockings with toys in them from Santa! My person was at the health club today and she said there was a bin there to collect toys and food for homeless pets. We talked about it, and I think I would like to donate one of my new toys and a can of food to a kitty who doesn't have a good home. It is good to share.
That brings me to my new year's wish for you all. I wish everyone a safe, happy home, enough to eat, someone to snuggle with, and maybe a toy or two. Happy 2012!
