Love, Mom

Hard to believe it's been 3 weeks today since Cybil passed to the Bridge. I think of her on a daily basis and miss her presence in our family. I know the girls miss her too, especially my older daughter, but we will always have the most loving and sweet memories of Cybil. She will never be replaced or duplicated, that's for sure!

Recently my friend Nancy Medina came to visit from Flower Mound, Texas for a couple days. When she visited 2 years ago, Cybil made sure to give Nancy a proper greeting and white hair treatment. Any of my friends who have ever come to visit remember Cybil distinctly because she loved on them the same way. . . . over the years I can't tell you how many women said they would love to take her home! Well, Nancy has a true heart of gold, and what did she do after she returned home? She painted a beautiful portrait of Cybil this past week honor her memory.

Although I have not see the portrait in person yet, only a picture, as it still has to dry before being shipped, I am sure if it's anything like Lily's, it's just stunning. The portrait already has plans to hang in my daughters room as she appreciates art and I know will be thrilled to have an 'original' Cybil all to herself.

Thank you Nancy . . . thank you, thank you, thank you!

Nancy also recognized Cybil on her beautiful Blog as well, which is a must-see!

Speaking of blogs, I have started one as well, called A New England Life. It really seems like a good time to branch out and do a little something different. Something inclusive of the animals I love so dearly, along with other parts of my life I cherish as well. We will still be here on Catster, but just not as much. Sometimes change is a good thing. I hope you will stop by, and if you have a blog of your own, let me know. Of course my very first post just had to be about Cybil!

Thank you again everyone for your kindness shown towards Cybil and I . As I mentioned before, between work, kids, and a hectic life, I just can't find the time to thank everyone individually and feel terrible about it, however, I hope you know I feel your love.

Cybil, I know you are the most beautiful white angel ever! Love you sweetie!

And oh how the years go by
And oh how the love brings tears to my eyes
All through the changes the soul never dies
We fight, we laugh, we cry
As the years go by

Here I sit, enjoying the view and seeing all my old friends that I haven't seen in some time now. My, oh my, don't they look beautiful too! I guess that's what happens when you arrive at the Bridge . . . you get a full makeover!

I know Mommy was pretty sad about letting me go, even though she told herself she wouldn't be, but luckily for the both of us, our Catster friends have come from far and wide to show us love, compassion, and support. Though we cannot thank each and everyone of you on a personal basis . . . (over 70 Stars, Gifts, and Rosettes! Not to mention the pmails and pictures!), . . . we want you all to know how deeply touched and moved we are. Your loving and thoughtful words have meant so much to mommy, and I know for a fact she has read each and every one of them!

The day my soul left this earth, Mommy planted a whole flat of white Impatiens she had bought a few days before. A simple act, but one that made her feel like she had honored me somehow. All Summer long she will watch those flowers grow and think of my love. Not to mention the white puffy clouds flying overhead ; ) Mommies life tends to be very busy, so hopefully she will move forward and heal quickly.

Well, I'm off! Off to enjoy another glorious day! All my friends, old and new, are planning a party . . . it's a Welcome Home party for all the latest Angels to join us. Seem's like it's one party after another! MOL!

Sweet Angel Kisses to all,

*ps - there's a new photo show on my page of the final pictures mommy took of me, if you would like to see it.

This morning Cybil has passed to the Bridge.

It was a terribly difficult decision to make, however the Stomatitis in her mouth had spread significantly to the whole top and bottom of one side, making it extremely painful for her to eat. Dr. Richards felt it was cancerous as well.

She was also drinking endless amounts of water, but her stools were small and black, due to all the blood she was swallowing. This past week Cybil started hiding, so that was a tip off of her true pain.

I am sad, but at the same time we gave Cybil a wonderful life. She lived it well and came so far from that poor little momma kitty found underneath a porch with her kittens. Please try not to be sad for her. Celebrate. She was one of the lucky ones. So many others never see a glorious life like she had.

I know she would like to extend a huge thank you to all the wonderful friends she has made on Catster. Such generocity and caring in unparalleled.

At this time I'm just at a loss for words.

May you rest in peace sweet Cybil. I love you.

Thank you,
Cybil's mom, Sharon

When Things Go From Bad To Worse

I have to ask you, have you ever had mats in your whiskers? Ever? I didn't think so. Someone should tell my daddy that!

It all started Sunday when mommy told daddy how matted I am. She said something had to be done, and soon! Shortly after that is when mom made a fatal mistake . . . she went shopping. When she came home, do you know what she found? Me, partially, horribly, shaved on my tummy. It's a mess, and all the mats are still there.

But guess what isn't??? My whiskers on one side! What the heck did daddy do to me? Do you know how long it will take to grow them all back? Mommy said I might not live that long! Mommy, how could you say that?!

Monday morning mom called the vets to ask about them giving me a partial Lion cut while I'm sedated, but they said it would be around $200. I guess that's a bit more than mommy can pay right now, so the next step is to call a professional groomer and find out what they have to say.

This whole thing is one big mess!

Naked . . . or not

I know, what kind of title is that? But it's what I just might be if mom has her way . . . naked!

You see my long hair has been matting for quite some time, only they are becoming worse, MUCH worse! Mom tried to brush me but all I did was scream at her. I don't want to be brushed, only held. You can hold me almost all you want, just don't try to pull at my skin. It doesn't feel good and I don't like it.

Tomorrow mommy is calling the vets to see if they can shave me down.

Oh the humiliation! Oh the trauma! What will other cats say?

She says I have to be very uncomfortable with all my mats, however, she doesn't think a regular groomer will be able to shave me because she thinks I will need a slight sedative to keep me from becoming too upset during the process. Being that I am the tender age of 17, and in a very delicate condition, she thinks the sedative is a must. No one has consulted with me to see what I think. You call this a democracy?

I'll keep you updated on what happens. Whatever the outcome, I just know it won't be good!!!

Very Special Purrzzz For Very Special Friends

How could I have known when mom posted my new video there would be such a hubbub from the Olde Furt world, and beyond! My gosh I am just blown away. But at 6 lbs., it doesn't take much! MOL!

Thank you to Calvin for letting all the Furty friends know. And thank you to Scooter, Calvin, Spot, The World Famous Dot!, ♥ Apache, Alaidh, Lancelot (who's not a Furt, but I still love him!), Edie, Wally ♥ Always Loved, Simon, and Elsa, for leaving comments and ratings on my video! I had fun making it, but it was rather disappointing there was no grass to be found. However, mom is just about to add a photo show to my page. Hope you enjoy it!

I'd also like to thank Mr. Echo, Cooter, Garp, Klemy Q. Tip, Daphne, Elsa, and Arnold P. for my most recent rosettes. I have the kindest friends.

And to whom ever sent the most darling anonymous Ladybug to my page, you brightened my day : >

UPDATE: Today mommy let me outside and there was GRASS! It doesn't look so great, but it was good enough to eat. The moment I walked in the door I threw it all up, so life is good.

New Food!

Earlier this week, mom was at the Pet Food Store picking up some new food for the dogs when she noticed they had samples of Eagle Pack dry food for cats. Since it was free, and the food looked like it had excellent ingredients, mom thought she would give it a try just to see what Luna and Phin think.

I stopped eating dry food a few months ago because my mouth hurt so much, and I had a terrible time getting it down. However, since Phin loved the new food so much, mom figured, "Hey, maybe I'll just see if Cybil likes this. It's worth a shot"

Guess what? I love it!!!!

A couple days later mom went out and bought a whole bag! We all definitely like it better than Serengeti, which is also a great food. Of course Phin and Luna have to finish up the old food while I get the good stuff! Mom also makes sure to give me plenty of canned food at each meal just to be sure I won't go hungry, but I'm eating it all. I even had extra dry this morning after breakfast!

Who'd of thunk it? Mom believes it's even giving me more energy because tonight I followed her in the bathroom, sat on the sink, and purred away looking into her eyes. Boy was she surprised! Who knows what's next . . . maybe the geriatric olympics!

Day of Love

Today was a special day .... it was the day of love. And I felt it!

Mom loved me up, then she let me go outside because she knew how much I wanted to feel the wind in my fur. Yes, it was rather cold, and as I looked around I couldn't help but wonder where the grass went, but the fresh air felt so good in my lungs. Every moment, every feel-good day is important right now.

A few days ago mom bought me some new canned food. Wellness chicken with lobster! Now how can you go wrong with that? At least that's what mom thought anyway.

I didn't like it. Now Phin is eating it and he seems happy, but he'll eat anything. That kid is dumb as a post I tell you. MOL!!!

Happy Valentines Day!

Slow and Not So Steady

I'm slow alright. And having a difficult time with my back legs. My appetite isn't so good either.

Ah well, this is what happens when you grow older. Things just don't work like they used too. Take yesterday .... I was coming up the stairs when suddenly my back legs didn't want to work anymore! Mom was there and she saw I was about to fall over so she came and grabbed me. Of course if Phin hadn't been standing at the top of the stairs I wouldn't have stopped in the first place, but he makes me nervous because he wants to play and I'm just to frail for that anymore.

Another problem I'm having? It's a rather delicate one so keep this one to yourself. You see, when it comes to meal time I have to eat in the main bathroom so no one else will eat my food. Lately I just can't hold my bowels so I hop in the tub and do my business right then and there! Daddy said it's time to start feeding me in the room where the catbox is, so that's what mommy is going to do. She knew this was coming because my hind end is very weak.

Besides that, I'm still sleeping constantly. Sometimes Mom doesn't think I have a very good quality of life, however, she says it's not time yet. Heck, I plan on laying out in the sun on the walkway this Summer and eating grass! Don't count me out yet!!!! There are warm days still waiting for me : >
