Arrival Story: Found him under my car. Scrawny looking, matted and had oil on his white bib (see first pic after a bath!). I have no idea where he came from but, from looking at him, I could tell he needed a good home. He wrestled with my dog and I just had to keep him. He has grown into his ears.
Bio: Very laid back. Ran with other cats in the neighborhood as well as my own. Grew up huge! Intimidates other cats with his size but is very friendly. Greets people who come to the door. Loves to go outside. He is also fascinated by water whether it is a flushing toilet or sitting at the edge of the tub during a bath. He also guards me by sleeping on the bath mat during bathing. Vincent also digs in the water dish. I think he sees his reflection in the dish and wants to make friends. He has a loong tail that touches his head when petting. His color is silver gray tabby with white on the bottom. He does not speak much except to go outside or for lovin's. He is very soft and fuzzy for a short haired cat. He loves to play with Hermione and grooms her. He sleeps with my dog and anyone else in the house who will let him.
Vincent left home on October 7th and hasn't been seen since. I have contacted the Humane Society, talked to people in the neighborhood, and put up posters. I am still hopeful that someone has taken him in. Please come home Vincent.
How can I recount recent events? My buddy and chum Duffy went to the Rainbow Bridge. Barbie again was upset and brought his body in for us to smell and try to understand what has happened. Barbie asked the vet about this and Dr. McDonnell agreed that this is a good way to let us know.
As you know, Barbie recovered Duffy and had him cremated. He was wrapped in a towel by Tom because Barbie wanted him to be comfortable. I'm going to miss him but, at least I know what happened and don't have to search for him.
Barbie discussed with all of us getting another cat to share with us and I am not so sure. I wasn't allowed out at all and I became distressed. What is going to happen to my territory?
I finally managed to get out to survey my kingdom (I quickly slipped out among a throng of dogs). I am car aware and I did come back unharmed. Barbie worries so much. I need time to wander and contemplate our home circumstances outside when something changes. I also complain to Barbie telling her about the secrets of life and the mystery of death. I am pretty sure she doesn't understand me. I can't really get through to her.
Now we have McLovin. Well at first, I was not sure that I wanted him here. Barbie explained to me that she was counting on me to extend a welcome just like I did for Duffy. I had to think but, I know she is right. I had to introduce the next cat to the type of life that he should come to expect here. He has quite a bit of energy and needs a helping older paw. I guess as eldest, I am responsible for this again. I don't mind. This is what I do. I will miss you Duffy and we all hope that we can all be together again.
I recently went for my vet visit which was alright. At least I wasn't as scared as Hermione. She went first then me. I was found to be alright and got my yearly needles with no incident. The car rides to and from were fine. I made myself at home in the back seat.
Last week, I had a chance to see first hand how Barbie gets when I escape the house. It wasn't me, but Duffy who got away. Dad had come by to pick some stuff up and Barbie went to help him by opening the doors, gate, etc. Duffy got outside and when Barbie came to get him, he was gone. She went to the doors constantly calling for him and looked around the neighborhood. He was gone about 8 hours and Barbie was nervous. I really had no idea that she worries so! Duffy came back in great shape and the story ends happily.
I am happy to report that I am on Google Maps! They came around this summer and took pictures of the streets and houses and I just happened to be sitting outside on my front steps. I am permanently associated with my home. I promise I won't get a swelled head over this but, I am glad about the picture.
