Arrival Story:
Xerox picked us. We were visiting an elderly neighbor who had been feeding another neighbors (who had moved away and left behind) two un-spayed females, mother and daughter. They immediately both had litters (8 total kittens), fathered by the local Don Juan. We didn't know who's kittens were who's as they nursed each others'. The neighbors daughter agreed to take two of the kittens, and we agreed to adopt out the other six when they were old enough. This cute little black and white boy kept running over to us, looking up and meowing (in cat, take me home, I'll love you, I will) could we resist? At the time we only had two other cats in the household. Two? That seems impossible now, with over thirty here!

We soon discovered he was not the brightest bulb in the pack. He followed Zack around and mimiced everything he did. Because he was our black and white copy cat, the name Xerox seemed somehow appropriate. Xerox is a championship sleeper. You can talk to him, poke him, and he will not budge. If you persist long enough, he'll twitch an ear, so you know he's still alive. He has a fascination with plastic shopping bags. Xerox will stick his head through the handles, and the next thing you know, he's being pursued throughout the house by the dreaded "bag monster". He will bounce off walls in terror until you can corner him and remove the bag. Then he goes looking for another one. We've since learned to cut the handles as soon as we bring the bags in. The things we do for our cats! Once we caught him trying to figure out how to get his big head in the handle of a drink mug. See I told you, not the brightest bulb. Xerox also uses his head to communicate. If he wants into a room, he'll stand by the door and motion with his head "in, in, I want in there". His one bad habit is mooching. He'll lay there quietly, looking the other way, until an unguarded moment, then he will reach his paw out for your plate. During one dinner, he managed to pull a full plate of spaghetti with sauce down on top of him. His white fur turned orange. The next day, I called our vet's office and asked how to get spaghetti stains out of a cat. They got a good laugh. I hope you do too, thanks for reading his story. He's really a pretty good cat. UPDATE: Last night, March 3rd, our Roxy joined the rest of the TWB angels who meet him at Rainbow Bridge. He was not ill, just old, and passed peacefully as he slept. Our hearts are broken, but our love endures. His melodic meow, always the "breakfast bell" for the group, will be one of our fondest memories.
