Favorite Food: Pretty much anything...and he likes spinach, strange as it sounds
Favorite Walk: Anywhere!
Best Tricks: The "gimme love" dance, he also knows "sit", "up", "stay" and can balance a treat on his nose and wait for the "okay!" signal before having it!
Arrival Story: Cricket is the newest addition to the pack, after almost two years since my special boy Billy came to the Rainbow, we thought it was time to get a friend for Keechi. Until recently, she's always had other canines in the pack to play with, and I know she's been missing him (as we all have, and always will).
We originally planned to get a senior, since Keechi is about 13 herself (and seniors are less likely to get adopted), however we found out our local shelter has started a wonderful new program. There's a group that adopts out all the older ones from the regular shelter and keeps them in a special foster care program where they're safe until the day they find their forever homes. That was such great news!!
All the ones at the regular shelter were 5 or younger, but we thought it best to adopt from there since they don't have that same security as the ones at the foster program, and there were at least 20 or more there. We found Cricket, who's just a little smaller than Keechi (and thinner, lol), my best guess is that he's a Miniature Pinscher/Terrier mix, he's very playful and hyper...and likes to dance about on two legs when it's treat time. The people at the shelter said he was found as a stray, then they actually found his original owners who told them to "just keep him"., so that's how he got there...and how we found him.
Bio: Cricket in one word is HYPER!!! I think this backs up my theory that he's mostly (if not all) Min Pin. He's always up for playing and could probably run half a dozen marathons in a day and still whine for more. He's very nice and friendly with people, the worst Cricket would do is JUMP...he's our springy little cricket. He also just loves other dogs and gets along great with them...even when the neighbor's little male dog comes in our yard, the two of them play together. When first meeting her, Cricket along with Keechi just great! Not a single growl. They sniffed and said hello for a while, and within five minutes, Cricket was giving a play bow and Keechi was wagging her tail. Keechi seemed happy to have a playmate again.
