indoors and outdoors Arrival Story: I walked in to a local animal shelter in Indiana and this little guys was in a cage of many. He was about 5 weeks old so I couldn't adopt him yet but I put my name on him. But two days later on Mothers day the shelter called and said if I didn't come and get him they were going to euthenize him because all the kittens had a terrible upper respiratory infection so of course I zoomed to the shelter and adopted this little guy and he was purring so loud in the car that I that he sounded like a little BMW ... aka Beemer. So he became my Beemer.
He was sick but we got him through it and let me just say he was a tiger of a kitten. He went through college with me and he was an absolute joy. When I moved to LA he stayed with my mom in Indiana and became her wonderful companion with Ozzie and Daphney and Yogi the other furbabies at my moms house. . I would visit home and see him and he was such a good boy! Bio: On a sad not I lost Beemer undiagnosed heart failure yesterday 4-14-08
Back in December he went missing then showed up a week later dragging one of his back legs. We took him to our vet and they did a total workup on him( bloodwork, exploratory surgery, biopsy) and said that he was overall a healthy 6 year old and they sent him home with medication. The next night his lungs filled with fluid and he was rushed back to the vet and stayed two more nights and miraculously go better. So he was sent home again. Now a better feeling feline.
So Beemer had been doing well .. walking on his leg sometimes ... but sometimes not. Until two days ago when my mother woke up and he was paralyzed in both his back legs. He was vomiting and becoming lethargic. He went to the vet and a different vet( actually a schoolmate of mine) checked him over and called it right away. He was in heart failure. My Beeme was in pain and his lungs were filling with fluid. I found out that when a cat has a progressed form of Heart disease that they can throw clots and become paralyzed or partially paralyzed and they never quite regain full use of the limbs affected. My baby was dying and we decided to end his pain and suffering. With how advanced the disease was there was nothing we could do. I just wish our other vet would have caught this so Beemer wouldn't have been in pain. So we said our goodbyes ... my mother was there with him and I said goodbye over the phone into his ear and he went to sleep.. He is now laid to rest in our backyard.
I will miss my boy but I am so grateful that he is out of pain.. and isn't suffering. I love you Beemer Forums Motto: It's easy to love me .... The Groups I'm In: "Just One Litter" Is Still Too Many, PURRS N WOOFS VILLAGE I've Been On Catster Since:
