Likes:
I love my Mommy, and I love being a healthy indoor kitty!

Pet-Peeves:
People who don't take care of their pets!

Favorite Toy:
I have lots of toy mice and catnip toys. Those are all lots of fun, of course, but it's much more fun to steal Mommy's things and play with them and hide them!

Favorite Nap Spot:
I sleep with Mommy at night. During the day, I usually take my cat naps in the window, or at the very top of my kitty climber.

Favorite Food:
My favorite food is whatever Mommy happens to be eating! Purina Cat Chow keeps me very healthy, but I love it when Mommy picks up a can of Fancy Feast as a special treat!

Skills:
I give Mommy kitty massages sometimes. I can also purr louder than any other cat on earth. I curl up next to Mommy's face while she's asleep and purr right in her ear. Sometimes it wakes her up!

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story:
My Cat-Mother was a stray, like me. We were a family of country cats, living in the rural parts of Michigan. My Mother and brothers and sisters and I were very happy, living off of the land. Our lives were full of excitement and adventure. But one day, huge pieces of ice started to fall out of the sky. They almost as big as me! We all ran to safety. I managed to make it, but I'm still not sure if the rest of my family did. Several humans were injured in that storm, and most of the cars and houses were pretty messed up. After the storm broke, I was really scared. I didn't come out for a long time. But after a while, a man started leaving food out. It was supposed to be for his neighbor's cat while the neighbor was on vacation. But I was so hungry! So I would sneak over and steal whatever food I could. For the next few weeks, things were pretty much the same, day in and day out. I would hide behind the shed and wait for the man to come out and leave food. I would wait for him to turn back to the house, and then I would sneak over and start eating, as quickly as I could, until I got caught. The man's wife would pet me sometimes,. She was very nice, but I missed being loved. I was lonely, hungry, and terribly sad. One day, as I was hiding behind the shed, I saw a new car drive up the road. A lady came out with a ladder. She was from the city, and she was very strange. She walked all around the house, measuring things and talking to the man. The man went back inside, and the lady kept walking and measuring. I was a little scared, but I decided to check her out. I snuck up beind her and started following her! She turned around and saw me and was a little startled. She almost stepped on me! "Hi there sweetheart!" she said. "You are adorable!" She kept working, and I kept following. The lady climbed her ladder, and I followed after her. She looked back and started laughing. "You can't follow me, honey! I'm not chasing a kitten all over the roof today!" She laughed and kissed me, and put me gently back on the ground. I was still waiting at the bottom of the ladder when the lady came back down. She shook her head and smiled. "You must be a farm cat," she said. I tried to tell her that I wasn't a farm cat. I was a stray. I wanted more than anything for her to love me and take me back to the city with her. I mewed and mewed. I rubbed against her legs and and wouldn't stop until she almost tripped on me. Finally she picked me up. It was heavenly! She petted me for what seemed like an eternity. Then she did something very strange. She looked at my ears and almost turned them inside out. I squrimed uncomfortably, but she calmed me and petted me. Then she looked at all of my paws and my teeth. She petted me for a few more minutes. The man was watching all of this from the house. Slowly, he came back outside. "Is this your cat?" the lady asked. "He won't leave me alone!" The man shook his head and frowned. He explained that I was not his cat; I was a thief! Stealing his food every day! I mewed and mewed. "I'm not a thief!" I tried to say. "I'm just hungry! Please take me with you to the city!" The man and lady talked some more and shook hands. I knew that the lady would put me down soon and leave, so I closed my eyes and purred, enjoying the affection for as long as it lasted. And then, the next thing I knew, I was inside of her car! She held me in her lap for the long, long drive back to the city. I had never been in a car before, and I was very scared. I shook, but I purred the whole way! I am now a happy and healthy city cat. I love my new Mommy and my sisters and brother. I curl up and sleep with Amber, my sister-dog. The other cats and I bathe each other. It's like a spa! I know that I am very lucky to be alive. I am very grateful to the man and his wife for feeding me after I lost my Mother, and I love my new Mommy very, very much!

Home Safe: My Outdoor Misadventures!

I just wanted to let all of you know that I'm home safe again this morning. Thank you for all of your prayers. It was a terrifying experience for me and my Mommy.
Mommy was so sad last night that she couldn't sleep. Finally, she opened the front door, locked the screen, and turned off the fan and T.V. and anything else that made noise so she could hear me if I tried to come home. She finally fell asleep on the couch.
At about quarter to six this morning, she woke up with a start. She thought she heard me! But it was impossible! It sounded like I was in the house! She ran to the door anyway and looked out, but I wasn't there. "It must be the other cats," she frowned. But I cried again, even louder this time!
"Meow! MEOW!!! Help me, Mommy!" I cried.
The other cats were right there, and they weren't talking. "It's Aydan!" Mommy screamed.
She ran outside barefoot, still wearing the clothes she fell asleep in.
"Aydan, Aydan!" She called me. But she couldn't find me anywhere.
Amber followed her outside and ran ahead.
"Amber! FIND AYDAN!" She said.
Amber barked and ran to the side of the house. She got to the root cellar door and barked. "WOOF! WOOF!" She announced proudly.
"He couldn't be down there," said Mommy, "There's no way to get in. The door's too heavy."
But Amber is very smart, and Mommy trusts her, so the lifted the heavy door.
"Aydan," she called.
"Meoooowww!" I cried. "Help me!"
Mommy climbed down into the root cellar and looked all around, but she couldn't see me anywhere.
"Meow! Meeeeooooowwwww!"
Then she saw me, just a glimpse of my orange eyes reflecting the outside light. The root cellar connects to the crawl space by way of a very small hole about 3' off the ground. The floor is packed dirt, and it is filled with spiders, as well as copper pipes that could flood the crawl space or the house if they were bumped into and broken.
"Oh my god," was all she could say.
Mommy's heart beat hard and fast, but she breathed deeply and called me again. "Aydan, come to Mommy! It's okay, baby! Come on!"
I came closer to the edge, and mewed. Mommy reached for me, but I got scared again and ran back further into the crawl space. Mommy couldn't reach me. She called and called, but I was too afraid to come. I ran deeper into the crawl space.
Mommy pulled herself out of the root cellar as quickly as she could. She ran into the house with Amber. She put on her shoes and grabbed a flash light, a broom and her cell phone. She ran back. She left Amber just outside of the root cellar and told her to stay. Amber would bark for help if need be.
Mommy put her cell phone securely in her pocket. She held the broom in her left hand and the flash light in her right. She would have to crawl on her belly to get to me. The crawl space is only about eighteen inches high.
She hoisted herself through the little hole in the root cellar wall, carefully avoiding the copper pipes. She shined the flashlight towards me, while she used the broom to break through the spider webs.
She had no idea how she would get out while holding me, and she was very afraid that she would not have enough space to turn around and get out again. She had no idea what was back there! But I had already been trapped for three days and two nights with no food or water. She had to get to me!
Mommy crawled on her tummy, like a soldier, pulling herself forward with her forearms. "Aydan, Aydan!" She called. "Come on, honey!"
I was so afraid! I wanted to come to her, but I was dehydrated and delirious. I ran all the way to the back of the crawl space until I was trapped in a corner. I mewed, terrified. "Mommm-eeee!" I cried. "Meeeooooowww! Help me!"
Mommy finally reached me. She was scared too. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to get out with me in her arms. But she picked me up and held me out in front of her. She put the flashlight band around her wrist and left the broom behind. She would brave the spiders without it. She pulled herself out on her elbows, holding me in front of her with both hands. When she got back to the access hole, she was worried. If she dropped me down, I might run off again in my delirium. So she held me tightly and turned around again on her belly. She pushed herself backwards and came out feet first, again being very careful not to hit any copper pipes.
When he got out, she breathed and sighed and kissed me. "We made it," she said, and Amber barked happily from above.
Mommy tucked me under her arm and climbed out of the root cellar. I blinked and sneezed in the bright sunlight. I had been in total darkness for three days!
When we got inside, Mommy opened a can of wet food. I normally eat only dry, so this was a special treat. She put me down in front of the open can. I ate and ate. As my tummy filled, I began to regain my senses. I purred. Mommy petted me, and I purred some more. I was so happy to be home!
Mommy went back out later and found the hole where I got into the root cellar. Grandpa will come over later to patch it. He already fixed the doggy door. (Thank you, Grandpa!) :-)
I am soooo happy to be home with my Mommy and Amber, Maury and Rhea. Thanks again, everyone, for all of your prayers and good wishes! I'm going to give myself a bath now!

When I got home from work today, I discovered that my dog door was broken, and Aydan was not inside the house. He is an indoor kitty, and I am very worried about him. I have been searching all day and night. If you live in the area, please look for him. My name and phone number are on his tag. Please call me if you find him.
I think I spotted him once, but he ran away before I could get to him. He must be so scared! I'm really afraid for him. Please contact me if you see him, and if not, your prayers would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
