Arrival Story:
Bootsie was my Mom's cat....I found her at the side of the road along our hayfield while riding my horse. I called to her, "kitty, kitty" and she bounced right under my horse's hooves! Needless to say, I panicked and jumped right off to snatch her off the ground. Of course, my wonderful boy Tuffy never moved a hoof! MOL....
Mom had been saying she wanted her own pet (Dad had a dog) and she wanted a kitty. I called and she was SO excited! When I took the scraggly little kitty over there, she fell in love and "Bootsie" was home. They spent about 14 years together and then Mom got very ill and died from complications of diabetes. Naturally, I left Boots at the house with Dad as she was used to their house and it was her home. Dad took care of her as best he could, feeding, cleaning her little pan and trying to brush her. Since she's a high-maintenance kitty with all that long hair, I groomed her once a week or so and kept her nails clipped.
Unfortunately, Dad was getting more and more unable to care for either the dog or Bootsie. I asked if he'd like me to take her home because he was so worried that she wouldn't come out and obviously wasn't happy. She always came out for me, but otherwise hid.
After I brought her home, she disappeared from sight for a couple of weeks. I made sure she had food and water and a clean litter pan away from the other kitties while she adapted to her new home. She wouldn't allow brushing at all for this time and got very matted, but I knew I could "fix" that and left her alone.
Gradually, Bootsie has come into her own here in my home and is Riley's best friend and play-pal. They enjoy sitting in the sun in their kitty play-pen and often sit together on a chair. She seems happier than she's been since Mom died and is definitely better groomed than she has been since then! In summer, I give her a Lion's Cut and she looks SO cute! Boots loves it after I'm done and runs around mewing like a little kitten, enjoying all that insulation having been cut off! In colder months, she is brushed every day so that she doesn't mat up again. Bootsie's purrsonality is VERY different than when she lived with Mom....more outgoing and MUCH more demanding! She is very much loved!

I have such PAWESOME furriends! Thank you furry much, everyone who sent me pawmails and rosies and good wishes! My Momma is so happy that you all remember me like she does! I'm a happy kit here at the Rainbow Bridge wif my beautiful wings and all, but I DO miss all of YOU!

Well Momma....I guess it's about time I updated you on my activities here at the Bridge. I've been having fun getting used to my new wings and I just LOVE having my healthy, chubby young body back! I've made lots of new furriends here and guess what? One of them is a GUINEA PIG! Can you believe it? Her name is Sophie and she's so purrty and furry sweet. We are BESTEST furriends and she rides on my back most of the time, even though she has her own set of wings. Once in awhile, we fly down to the Breakfast Club in Olde Furts to see what our furriends are doing there. Sophie's brofur, Simon is a member and she loves to look at his sweet furry face. The OF's leave a Bridge Basket fur us to take back wif us...full of Pie's wonderpurr cooking and Misha's great grilled food and Hemingway's wonderpurr cobblers! There are timbits and tuna fur Alaidh and salmon souffle for Hemingway's brofur, Simon and lots of other great yummies. Purrsonally, I just LOVE Pie's scrambled eggs wif cheese! :-)
We just gots an invitation to a Kitty Woodstock, hosted by MauMau! He's so happy that his book is being published soon and that a DVD is in the works! MOL....I can see him down by the Milky Stream right now, happy dancing his big ol' paws off! He's so funny and furry sweet! You were right, Momma...I do love him...furry much. I love all of the kitties here and I'm safe and healthy and happy. Isn't that all you efur wanted fur me??????
