Baby Orca’s – a Spectacular Sight!

The best thing about being an angel is the opportunities I get to share with my Guardian and just yesterday I joined her while she made the 1.5 hour crossing from the mainland to Vancouver Island and the return sailing in the evening.

Together we watched the early morning sun, a brilliant shade of crimson. We watched enchanted as the morning light shimmered and danced across the water.

Later on in the evening, while the sun set, we made our way back across to the mainland. The sailing was spectacular as we watched the sky turn a luminous pale shade of pink that mixed with the dark cobalt blue sky.

As we drew closer to the mainland and the majority of humans had gone back to their vehicles, out of the blue we witnessed a dramatic splash in the water... and moments later we saw a marine mammal's sleek dark back emerge and within seconds a baby orca whale slapped her tail on the surface of the water, as if to say, “Hello!!!”

What happened next was the most amazing site... four other baby orca’s surfaced and while they swam, the "big sister" decided to show off a bit and did the most spectacular breach!

We watched from a respectful distance as the orca pod played, swam, jumped, and displayed their sleek dorsal fins... The pod must have been "Transient" and traveling with their mothers... probably two, as there were five to six babies, it was hard to keep track!

My Guardian and I both have such a respect for these beautiful marine mammals and it’s a moment we will remember furever! Last night the coastal waters of BC lived up to it's name - "SuperNatural!"

Mountain Home

I’d like to share a poem written sometime in the 7th to 9th centuries by one of the reclusive poets of China, one who called himself Han Shan, or "Cold Mountain", a poet honoured in both Zen Buddhist and Tao traditions.

Mountain Home: The Wilderness Poetry of Ancient China.

I’ve lived out tens of thousands of years on Cold Mountain.
Given to the seasons,
I vanished among forests and cascades,
gazed into things so utterly themselves.

No one ventures up into all these cliffs
hidden forever in white mist and cloud.
It’s just me, thin grass my sleeping mat
and azure heaven my comforting quilt:
happily pillowed on stone, I’m given to
heaven and earth changing on and on.
