Arrival Story:
After many months of unsuccessfully trying to find a home, Harold has been adopted by us. I have known Harold for 10 years when I started working for my current employers. Harold has been a blood donor all of his life and has lived in the hospital the entire time. Most recently he has been in a cage because he has become extremely aggressive towards dogs and we could not risk him attacking one of our patients. I have been saddened to think he would spend the remainder of his life behind bars and decided to take him home on a trial basis. The first 2 nights were full of hissing and growling but no fur flying. Hunter wants to "check him out" but Harold is still reluctant. The hissing and growling have almost completely disappeared as well as Harold has come out of hiding. He's sitting on my lap purring and wants to get his brushing and love. Needless to say, he's found his furrever home.

Bio:
Harold hates dogs. He has and will inflict damage to a dog who gets too close. In fact, he will walk right up to any dog and smack it in the face...any breed. It's a dangerous situation for him and the dog. Harold has IBD so he's on a special diet along with a small dose of prednisone every morning. In the past he had a ruptured cruciate, but that has been surgically repaired and he has healed 100%. He is a retired blood donor and has saved countless numbers of kitties.

Harold was euthanized on Sat. Oct. 30. He stopped eating the morning of the 29th and even turned up his nose to BK burger. I knew it was his time because he LIVED to eat. He had a wonderful 20 long years and our family was blessed to have him in his last few years. I know he's beating up dogs, eating burgers and stealing food from where ever he can get it.
RIP Harold!!

Yep, that's what they call me now. I steal. Food, trash, whatever I can get my little paws on. I jump onto the counter and eat bread. I steal whatever food has been tossed into the trash. Even paper towels that have food wiped on them are fair game in my opinion. Needless to say mom and dad aren't very happy about this. They get mad when I eat all their bread or when they find trash strewn all over the floor. I think it's funny!

An update otherwise…I'm feeling frisky as you can see from above. No more vomiitng and my weight loss seems to have stabilized. While mom was on vacation a couple of weeks ago, I had to stay at the hospital and my doc gave me another round of chemo (only because it was "trash" otherwise). I'm not sure it did anything positive but it sure didn;t hurt. So for now…I'm status quo.
Purrs all!

Cancer update!

I wanted to give you all an update on my condition...which at this point seems stable. I went in last week to get my 3rd lomustine (chemo) capsule however, my bloodwork showed that I have no WBC's (white blood cells) therefore I couldn't get the pill. I had also lost 4.5 ounces. I had been very active and energetic and hungry all the time so mom was a bit disappointed by these results. So...I went back in on Friday to have more bloodwork and get my chemo. My bloodwork was better but we still decided to push the chemo off til next week (this drug is given every 4-6 weeks) and next week will be week 6. I have however, gained back 3 ounces (yeah!!!). So back to the vet again next week. I won't need more blood drawn, only a weight check to determine the correct dosage for the chemo. Thanks for all the purrs...they really help!!!!!
