Arrival Story:
NErmal came to us as a rescue kitty. A lady from work sent out an email about some kittens that had been born only a month prior and said that if they were not taken, they would be turned over to the animal shelter. We already had my then 7 yr old cat who was totally into herself, but I couldn't resist. I told the lady to bring me one of the kittens (and luckily, they were all adopted). We did not have a name for her at the time - all we knew was that she was tiny and full of activity. She was roughly only 5 weeks old when we got her and we struggled to get her to eat. We did the bottle thing and some very fine wet food. She nibbled and eventually, we got her to the point she would drink milk mainly. We were very concerned that she would never start eating. One morning, my husband made bacon and that TOTALLY sparked interest with her. Here was this teeny little kitten who was barely drinking milk - and she was scarfing the bacon down like crazy!!! Needless to say, she got plenty of it and now- she is the pickiest eater ever - still a small little thing but she is rotten to the core. She eventually came to follow my elder cat around and aggravate the fire out of her - hence the name Nermal. Nermal was the girl cat off Garfield that followed Garfield around everywhere and simply made him mad! that's my Nermal in a nut shell. Now, they get along great and watch out for each other with my other kitty.
Bio:
We think Nermal is a bit schizoprenic/paranoid. Sometimes she will just rip and race through the house like it is on fire. She hates being picked up (started after she was spayed) and she has the lungs of a newborn baby!!! We never thought she would be a lap cat, but her favorite place is on her daddy's lap in the recliner; when she's not in front of the wood stove!!!
