Quick Bio:

Gotcha Date:
May 7th 1994

March 25th 1994

Sleeping; cuddling with me; birdwatching in the backyard; checking out the mouse holes in the horse barn

Nothing, really. Apollo is a real laid back cat, but when his food dish is empty, it makes him cry.

Favorite Toy:
Toys take up too much energy

Favorite Nap Spot:
The front porch swing, the basement window, the closet, the bookcase, the bay window

Favorite Food:
Only dry cat food passes his lips -- his choice, not mine

He's good at giving kitty kisses. Apollo is a big MUSH. Living up to his name, he loves hugs and kisses and gives them back, touching is lips to mine. He was good at climbing trees but since he broke his foot years ago he lost the strength in his claws.

Arrival Story:
Apollo and his twin sister, Athena, were brought when they were kittens, to our local Shelter. The woman said her husband was going to shoot them if she didn't get rid of them. We adopted them from the shelter.

Apollo likes to play with his buddy, Amber, a Collie, starting at 5 a.m. We hear a lot of yipping, and claw scrambling on the carpet as they play tag around the dining room table. Apollo is a TEN at kitty kisses and cuddling. Cozy on the couch, he reaches up with his paw and gently touches my face. ********************************** **************** Apollo journeyed to the Rainbow Bridge, April 8, 2011 -- a Beautiful Dear Soul. In all of his 17 years, never once did he hiss or use his claws against anyone or anything. Always purring, a Gentleman of a Cat, he loved all. Apollo, March 25, 1994 -- April 8, 2011.

It's Been Two Months Already?

Well, today it is two months since I have gone to the Rainbow Bridge. And I am sorry that I haven't thanked everyone with a diary entry sooner, but now the Catster gift history isn't available, so my thank you's for everyone are still on hold.

The two months have gone by very fast and Mom finds the house so empty. Amber and Mom take care of each other now but Mom's eyes still leak. Every now and then, from the corner of her eye, Mom thinks she sees a flash of a fluffy kitty tail and once she even heard me meow, so she knows I am still with her. Slowly her pain will subside and then only the good and happy memories will remain, as it should be. But I will always be in her heart forever.

Love ya forever, Mom,

Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
Night is falling
You've come to journey's end
Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
All souls pass

Hope fades
Into the world of night
Through shadows falling
Out of memory and time
Don't say: We have come now to the end
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again

And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the West

An Entry From Apollo's Mom

Dearest Friends,

I just need to write to apologize for the confusion I created when I posted on Tuesday that I would have to help Apollo to the Bridge. Even though I expected the worst I was still devastated that the ultrasound showed that he has spots of cancer in his liver, pancreas and intestines. That day, he was very sick and in pain and I didn't want him to hurt, so I really thought that the time had come for us to part. But our vet said not to rush so I threw myself into caring for Apollo and didn't come to Catster for a day.

It shouldn't come as a surprise to any Catsters that the Power of the Paw really does work. Apollo's pain has subsided, he's more alert but also is able to sleep deeply (which is his normal schedule during the day), and he is starting to eat on his own. As we all know, cancer has no cure, so I know there will be no miracle "cure". But the miracle here is the Catster Power of the Paw -- the loving thoughts, the kindness, the understanding -- as we help each other through whatever life throws at us.

There is no need for you to apologize or be embarrassed if you sent Bridge rosettes or posts. The love, concern and understanding is what I see, so there is certainly no need to apologize for that.

Apollo and I may have months together, or weeks, or only days. However long it is, we will take it ... enjoy it ... and know our love for each other and all of our Catster friends.

Love ya!
Eloise and Apollo
