Arrival Story: I adopted Purrcy and his sister Whispurr from a co-worker when they were about 10 weeks old. Purrcy came home first and we bonded right away- we are soul mates! The first night he was with me, he found his way up the stairs to my bed. He sucked on my right ear to console himself; and has done so ever since when he is feeling "needy". (which happens often)
Purrcy is a "people" cat - he's never met anyone he doesn't want to make friends with - he's just a big, fluffy bundle of love.
Purrcy used to be an indoor/outdoor kind of guy. About 2 years ago he had what my vet has called a "neurological event". Purrcy suddenly began to drag his right back leg. An x-ray showed a "slight " pelvec fracture, but then he lost cotrol of his right front leg. My vet said it wasn't a stroke - but he couldn't define what was happening. It was a very scarey time for me! Purrcy gradually improved, but he still has some loss of sensation on his right side. That's why he can't go outside any more.
At one time Purrcy was a terrific hunter; he caught mice, moles, birds, snakes, and squirrels. One time a few years ago he caught and ate a poisoned squirrel - he spent a few days in Kitty ICU, and I gained a few gray hairs! I'm happy that he's an inside cat now, but he's not. Even though he has a sunroom and an outside kennel with perches and scratching posts, Purrcy would still like to go out - he doesn't understand his limitations, so I have to be his protector, even though it makes us both sad.

Bio: Whispurr died from an accident before her first birthday. I still miss her. Her ashes will be combined with mine and Purrcy's when I die.
Purrcy has three cat "siblings" :
Jeepurrs Creepurrs,
Grizzly,
and
Caspurr Snowberry.
You'll meet them later on.
Can you tell that I incorporate a "purr" in most of my cat's names?
I hope that by doing so, they live up to the "Purr" and a become a happy, and loving part of my cat family.

Today mumma took me in the Dreaded Box back to the vet. It was just to check my tube and change the dressing. All was ok.
We got home just in time for a (yum yum) feeding. Darned if that old tube didn't block right up. Mumma worked at it for a bit, but was concerned about how much pressure to use. So....back to the vet...
Mumma complained about being my own private chauffeur today ( and my own private nurse, chamber maid, and chef).
The tube was difficult for the vet to unblock too, so mumma didn't feel too foolish.
Tomorrow is turkey day...wonder if that will go through ok...hmmmm

Yesterday mumma didn't like how I looked...so she put me in the Dreaded Box and drove the car to the ER. As she suspected I was dehydrated (like beef jerky?). So they stuck in another (sigh) needle and put some fluid under my skin.
On the way home the car started to make a funny noise and mumma stopped ...we had something called flat tire. Mumma called some guy who put on a donut...mumma eats them sometimes...isn't she silly?
When we got home, mumma fed me through the tube in my neck, but I was still hungry and went to sit in my eating spot. Mumma gave me a little food in a bowl and I ate almost all of it! She was very happy with me.
After that I took a nap in front of the stove. I was very cozy.
I am still not very hungry and am not drinking any water on my own.
Mumma is working hard to make sure I get enough of everything.
I'm working hard to get well, but most of the time I am just tired. Mumma says she is too, she is up until 12 am everynight for my last feed and she gets up at 6am for the first feed...glad I can sleep through it all.

I'm home now and have a feeding tube in my neck. Mumma has been feeding me through that four times a day and giving me water in betwen feedings. My tummy gets upset easily, so I am not fond of this stuff. I am taking medicine too. Pepcid - to try to keep my tummy from getting upset, clavamox to prevent infection, and denosyl and ursodiol to help my liver get better.
Today mumma let me walk around the house. I went out into the sunroom to see if any birds were in the backyard. I took a nap in front of the pellet stove for a while, and I watched TV with dad. I'm trying to get back to normal. I even sniffed the food bowls, but I'm not ready to eat on my own. I will when I'm ready.
Thank you to all who have sent me rosies..mumma has been trying to keep up and thank every one, but I'm keeping her very busy, so please don't feel hurt if she doesn't write to everyone.
I made her very happy today by walking up to her and asking to be picked up and snuggled.
I gotta say, there's no place like home!
