Blind Cats CAN See a Future!

My Meowmy asked me to write a diary entry today for a very special cause!

I have two brofurs who are blind and one sisfur who is visually impaired. My angel sisfur, Scarlett, was blind while she was on Earth.

A Step Forward for Eve!!

So many of you have supported Meowmy, Mama Terry and their friends' quest to find Justice for Eve, the sweet kitten who died shortly after being adopted from Okefenokee Humane Society in Waycross, GA. You can read all about Eve on her Catster page:

I asked Meowmy to update you on a positive development!! A man from the GA Department of Agriculture answered Meowmy's (third) email to that office! He asked for Eve's medical records, saying they were necessary for an inquiry to proceed. Of course, Meowmy sent them right away. So it looks like someone has noticed us!! PURRRRRR!!!

This may take time. (Has the government ever moved quickly??) We promise to keep you updated when we have news.

Wishing Upon a Star for Eve & FLOCK Justice

It snowed today but Meowmy says there are a few stars peeking through the clouds. She says if I make a wish, it might come true. I'm going to make TWO wishes! And YOU can help them come true!!!

Wish #1:
Many of you have read the heartbreaking story of my sisfur Eve. I never got to meet Eve, due to the neglect she suffered at Okefenokee Humane Society in Waycross, GA (Ware Co.) Meowmy and Eve's to-be adoptive Mommy Terry, along with their friends, are asking everyone to write snail mails or emails to the folks on the list below. Be polite but ask for an investigation into the conditions at OHS. So far, we have had only one noncommittal reply. You can read my back diary entries for that actual letter. If enough of us write and express our concern for the animals still there, surely someone will listen to us. Please help us bring Justice for Eve!!

Muppet is my furriend, and she's a survivor! She was at a huge cat 'rescue' called FLOCK. These cats were left to starve and several hundred did not make it. Muppet was critical but she was so strong and fought so hard to live! And she did! Best Friends Rescue took over and thanks to hard workers like Muppet's wonderful furever mommy and others, the surviving cats had a chance for happy, healthy lives.

Unfortunately, the case against the bad people who ran FLOCK was DISMISSED!!!! I'm going to quote now from Muppet's diary:

"...And on this note, and the main reason for my diary entry, we are asking all of our Catster friends to please write a letter to our District Attorney, Bob Beckett, letting him know how outraged every animal lover is that his office failed to properly see that there was justice for Flock. Although he has filed an appeal, we want Bob Beckett to know just how many eyes are upon him and how he better not let his office mess it up this time! Meomy was told that this case was ‘purposely hidden so the outcome would be a dismissal.’ And in today’s paper it states, “Beckett’s notice of appeal was filed yesterday. Gibson (General Council for FLOCK) said that surprised him because he and Beckett had struck a deal that the case would go no further.” Struck a deal? Humph!!

If everyone who cares about this case could please write a 'snail mail' letter to Bob Beckett, it could really help this case a lot. We need a flood of mail to come in. And thank you to everyone who already have sent letters! *grateful hugs*"

I'm just one cat, but I speak for so many when I beg you to write to DA Beckett and to those with authority over Okefenokee Humane Society. Sadly, neglect and abuse of helpless animals happens every day. Usually there isn't much we can do. Here is the chance for caring, truly HUMANE people like my Meowmy and Muppet's Mommy to join your voices together and take action! Write DA Beckett, please. Write or email those in Ware County who can help the poor animals still at OHS.

You CAN make a real difference! They may ignore a few of us, but they cannot ignore us ALL.

Important!!! Contacts for EVE!

We finally got the emails of the board members of the Okefenokee Humane Society!! These are the people who have control over the animals, like Eve, waiting there for forever homes. I'm also posting the county commissioners emails as they control funding for OHS.

Please!! Take a moment and email them, asking for an investigation of the circumstances surrounding Eve's malnutrition, spaying and death. Be polite but firm. Let them know we are also writing the state agriculture department. Eve's death should matter, and we are the ones who can see that it has meaning and importance. Bless you!!!!

I Have a Birthday!!!!!

I's so very 'cited! It's my birthday today - July 24!!!!! Hooray!!!

Truthfully, we doesn't know my REAL birthday. This is just the day Meowmy picked fur my birthday. I don't care 'cause a birthday's wonderful no matter what!!

I has a new sisfur, too. Her name is Majik. She's very opposite from me. Here's why:

Majik is black all over. I's white all over 'cept fur my black spot on the tip-top of my head.

Majik can hear and I's deaf.

Majik is little. I's a big kitty!

Majik is quiet and shy. I's very outgoing.

I thinks I likes her though. She seems kind of scared of me. She opens her mouth and stares at me a lot. I think she's doing somethin' called 'hissing' but I doesn't know what that means. You has to open your mouth to do it, though. Maybe she's scared of me 'cause I's so much bigger. I'd never hurt her, though. She's a very pretty sisfur.

I have some birthday wishes. Here they are:

1. I wishes for lots and lots of cat treats! Salmon flavor!

2. I wishes for my angel sisfur Darcy to be happy there at the Bridge. I misses her lots and lots and lots.

3. I wishes for my new sisfur Majik to like me. Maybe by my next birthday, she will!

4. I wishes to go on another trip with Meowmy soon. I loves bein' a travelin' cat!!

5. For all my Catster furriends, I wishes 9+ lives and much health and happiness...and a furever home for California cat Charley and all the other kitties needing furever homes. Charley is here:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I's the Luckiest Deaf Kitty!

I's SOOOOO lucky!!!!

Last week, Meowmy woke me up early one morning and coaxed me in the cat carrier.

At first, I thought we wuz goin' to the vet's office, 'cause that's usually why us kitties gets put in the carriers. But after all the doors wuz closed, she opened the carrier door and I knew we wuzn't goin' to the vet's. We wuz goin' on a trip!!!! (I's a very good travelin' cat. I lies in my carrier and sleeps, even with the door open. Meowmy just leaves it open 'cause I's a very big Turkish Angora and it's a little cramped in there!)

I loves to travel and this time, it wuz just ME AND MEOWMY!!! I had her all to myself!!!

We rode a long time. I dozed and slept fur a LONG time. When Meowmy stopped, I woke up a little, but before long I was catnappin' again. She fed me cat treats and gave me water and even a bit of ice cream. Mmmmmm!!!! That's GOOD!

Finally, the car stopped and I knew we wuz there. It smelled familiar, and I knew right away where we wuz. Meowmy and Purrdaddy have a small condo on an island called Jekyll Island. It's a wonderful place!

For three whole days, Meowmy and I wuz together! She read her books and I cuddled beside her on the couch. Meowmy fed the squirrels and birdies and I gots to watch them through the sliding glass door. There are lots and lots of live oak trees around our condo and that's good news fur me 'cause it means LOTS of squirrels and birdies to watch!

Best of all, any time I wanted Meowmy to love on me - give me headbonks or scratch my face and ears - she was right there! No brofurs and sisfurs needing her, too. Just ME!!!!!!

Of course, all good things ends, and too soon, we wuz headin' home. But even though I's a deaf white cat, I heard Meowmy sayin' we's goin' back soon!!! Just us!!!

Luck of the Irish!

I's been thinkin' a lot this week 'cause it's gettin' close to my favorite holiday - St. Patrick's Day!!!!

(With a name like SHAMROCK, how could it not be my favorite??)

There's sayings about havin' the 'luck of the Irish' and finding lucky four-leaf-clovers.

I don't think I need a four-leaf-clover for luck 'cause I's already the luckiest cat in the world!

Want to know why?

I's a deaf cat, but I thinks I's lucky. I don't hear scary sounds like the roar of the monster machine Meowmy uses to pick up dust and dirt from the carpet. (Brofur Bo Cat sez it's a fearsome sound! He runs for safety in the basement whenever it rears its ugly head.) I also doesn't hear scary sounds like thunder and the doorbell. (My sisfur Seven hates the doorbell 'cause it means a stranger might be comin' inside!)

I's also lucky 'cause even tho I's deaf, I found the best furever home! Meowmy found me online on a rescue website then came to Petsmart to visit me. She sez she fell in love with me right away!!!! Isn't that lucky?? (Yes, I hears Meowmy even tho I's deaf.)

In my family, I have lots of brofurs and sisfurs and I loves them! Well, sometimes we fusses, but there's seldom any fur flying. I loves my sisfur Darcy so much. She's such a sweet kitten and loves to cuddle up with me. I grooms the tip top of her head where she can't reach. When I wuz an unloved stray, I dreamed of having a real furever family, and now I do!!!! Isn't that lucky????

We has our own screen porch! It looks out over the woods and the hills out back. I loves to sit there in the sunshine and watch the birds fly across the blue sky. There's a big hawk that sometimes darts down and catches a mousie! I can watch bugs fly, too, and deer wander down to drink at the creek. So I's an indoor kitty who can go outside - almost! That's definitely lucky!

I has plenty of food to eat and fresh clean water to drink. I'm warm at night and safe and loved. Meowmy brushes my fur and keeps it shining and pretty. I know I'm in my furever home...furever!

I's definitely one lucky Shamrock!!!!
