Skills: Despite being declawed by her previous owner, Jessamine catches mice very well.

Dwells:
indoors

Arrival Story: Jessamine was adopted from the Tompkins County SPCA at the same time as her "sister" Teagan. Jessamine and Teagan lived in the same small room at the SPCA. When I met them, Teagan was immediately sociable, but Jessamine hung back a bit. She eventually came to sit beside me and I was charmed by her shy sweetness.
Jessamine lived at the SPCA for six months before I adopted her. She had a difficult time finding a home, despite her gentle nature. According to the shelter staff, Jessamine was about the same age as her sister Teagan, 3-5 years old, when I adopted her.
Jessamine was found as a stray in February. However, her long fur and ability to catch mice made her a survivor.
It took a while for Jessamine to really realize that she had a home after she left the shetler with me. She has finally come out of her shell and now is very sociable with everyone she meets.

Bio: Jessamine is a mute. She has no voice at all. She tries to meow a lot, but all that comes out is a little panting noise. Her veteranarians have no explanation for this, but they don't think it's anything to worry about.

I had my ultrasound today and it was normal. Everything looked fine. This doesn't rule out inflammatory bowel disease, but it makes it less likely. So, I am very confused. My human is relieved that nothing horrific was found, but now we don't know what to do next :(
I'm still skinny and seem weak, but I am very affectionate and don't seem to be suffering. My human needs to talk directly to the vet tomorrow.
My tummy has been shaved. That was so annoying! And, they put cold goo on it and pressed on it with a plastic thing. But, otherwise the ultrasound visit went well. I was very well behaved there, and barely squirmed.

Thank so much you everyone who posted a rosette or sent us good wishes. We will respond individually soon.
Since yesterday, I've been subtly worse, enough so that my human moved up my ultrasound appointment to tomorrow. It was supposed to be next Tuesday.
My human is a bit of a hypochondriac, so she is feeling pretty worried about me. What happened is that I had more diarrhea than normal (my poop had been kind of solid up to yesterday) and I threw up neon yellow bile, and I peed on the couch where my human has been sleeping. Those three things together made my human freak out even more than usual.
Thank you everyone for the support. We hope to have more info and be calmer soon.

I've been getting sicker lately. My human had noticed my weight decreasing, and a couple weeks ago, she took me to the vet and I only weighed 7.9 lbs. A month before that I weighed 9 lbs. Six months ago I weighed 11. The vet examined me and said that my stomach felt thickened. I've also been kind of listless lately.
I had blood work done. My thyroid is fine, but I had 3 other abnormalities that are consistent with inflammation. So, it seems that my digestive track is inflamed. The vets put me on metronidazole because I may have irritable bowel syndrome. I am going to have an ultrasound in 1 week. After that, I may have endoscopy to get a stomach biopsy.
I tried Natural Balance Green Pea and Duck food for a while, but it didn't work for me. I may be allergic to fowl. I'm back on Royal Canin Green Pea and Venison. This is the only food I've found that works for me. Unfortunately, it's extraordinarily expensive.
My peeing and pooping outside the litterbox has escalated lately. This may be related to my current physical ailments. My human has completely given up sleeping on her bed because I always pee on it. She sleeps on the couch now.
The silver lining is that I am easy to pill. I take 2 pills per day, and I am a little cranky about it, but I don't squirm too much. My human has also added wet Green Pea and Venison to my diet, and I've gained 0.3 lbs in about a week, which is promising.
I have issues, but I don't seem terribly unhappy. I still like cuddling with my human and eating my wet food.
