Today I am one year old!!! I feel like such a big cat now! Yesterday, a birthday fly came to help me celebrate. I chased him all over the house, until I conquered that evil intruder!
Today, Meowmy gave me some "Shammy Lammy" stuffed mice and a very cute card. She transferred me over to big cat food last week. (Meowmy here: The vet says Piper weighs a bit too much. He's twelve pounds. Doc says he needs to lose about a pound.)
Now, I'm having a birthday siesta.
Happy Birthday to me!

MEOWWWWWWWWWWWW!!! I AM BORED! Meowmy decided to get the screens on my screened-in porch re-done. Some pesky squirrels had created various holes in the screens some years before I was ever born! Those critters actually chewed through the metal screens! And now I'M having to stay inside the house while the man puts up new screens. I'm used to going out to the porch when I want to, and now I'm stuck inside for a few days. I DON'T LIKE IT!
This afternoon, I borrowed a page from the squirrels' book, and tried to chew on the kitchen door leading to the porch. I thought for sure I could chew my way out, just as they had chewed their way in. All to no avail! Meowmy put a stop to my chewing, and banished me further to the living room. So, now I'm going to take another nap, and dream about going out to my favorite place in the world--my porch..

What an exciting morning! I was sitting in Meowmy's bedroom window, when all of a sudden, we heard a deep "Whoooosh! Whoooosh!" Meowmy was dozing, but she woke up and said "Balloons! Piper, there are hot air balloons going over!" She leaped up like a crazy woman, got dressed, and ran outside with that flashing thing that takes my pictures. I watched the excitement from the front window. These "Ball--oons" were going right over our heads. I thought they were BIG DRAGONS, sent to take kitty cats away! Six of these Great Balls of Fire went over us, huffing and puffing! I was scared to death.
Later, Meowmy opened the door so I could go out on my porch. But I was too scared. I hunkered down, and walked really slowly. I barely got out on the porch, and then I ran back inside. I was just too scared of the thought of those dragons returning! About an hour later, I had finally gotten up the nerve to go to my porch. But then, some other big flying thing roared over the house. Not a Ball-oon, but an "air-plane," as Meowmy called it. I ran back inside, with my tail all puffed out!!! I'm worn out from all the excitement!
Well, we kittens have a lot to learn, I guess. I'll be more brave when I turn one in September!
