Quick Bio:
-cat rescue

Favorite Toy:
anything fuzzy

Dwells:

Arrival Story:
Sable was brought to us as a foster kitten from a rescue group we work with. They had pulled her from a local kill shelter. She tested a "light positive" for feline leukemia at 10 weeks of age. Since we have an FeLV cat already, we were the logical place for her. We kept her separated from everyone else for several weeks. We cleared up the standard ringworm, earmites and worms and put a little weight on her. When it came time for the retest, poor little Sable tested positive again. She was not able to throw off the disease. We have decided to keep her now, since her adoption chances dropped to little or nothing. We have had tremendous success with mixing positives and a negative. (See Scarlett and Copper in Sable's family)

Bio:
Sable came to us a deep rich mink brown color. We treated some ringworm areas, and those areas grew back in with a lot of grey hair mixed in. As we have watched, Sables body color has slowly lightened with more and more grey, though her legs and face have remained dark brown. She is a real love when it comes to spending alone time with Mommy. She likes to give me kisses on my nose and chin.

I don't know what happened to me last week! Mom came home one day and put me in a box. She took me to this place she called the "vet." Everyone there was so nice, but they stuck me with sharp things. I didn't like that very much. I heard Mom and Dad talking to the man about me testing positive. I don't know what that means, but it has to be something big, Mom was almost in tears. The very next day, Mom opened the door and let me go out into the rest of the house. It seemed like everywhere I looked, there was another cat! I hissed at them all and let them know I was not going to take any kind of attitude. The big orange one thought he could get the best of me, but I sent him running. I found a spot in one of the cat trees where I could jump out and attack all the other cats and the dogs when they come by. I spend most of my time hiding out there making sure they all know I am the boss! Mom put me back in my room when it got dark. I thought I could run past her, but she was too quick for me. It is fun out with everyone else! I heard Dad laughing once - he said he thought I had sprung a leak, whatever that means. I just ignored him and kept up my constant warnings.
