Arrival Story:
Copper was an only child. I decided it was time to add to the family, so I took a trip down to Operation Kindness. I saw a lot of great cats, but no one really grabbed me. I was leaving to return another day when I saw a grey striped leg hanging out of a small cat condo in the Leukemia cage. Her bio said she was 2 years old, and FeLV+. She had been at O.K. for almost a year. I found out she had been adopted once, and was tested positive for Leukemia and returned. She was adopted a second time with the people knowing she had Leukemia. She was returned a week later after they "remembered" their daughter had cats away in college that would be coming home over the summer. They didn't want to risk the health of those cats. The counselor said that after she was brought back the second time she seemed to lose all her hope. I am a sucker for a sob story, so I took her home. She lived under my bed for a good six months before she would even come out without wet food bribes. It didn't help that Copper is aggressively playfull and Scarlett does not know how to play. She eventually started to come out and socialize a bit, but has always remained on the outskirts of our household.

Bio:
Scarlett is a feline leukemia cat. She is asymptomatic and very healthy according to her vet. She is a loner and nocturnal by nature. She likes to come out at bedtime and stand beside me on the bed for petting. If I move too fast, she is gone.
