Likes:
I like some people. I love Dan, she's my human, she calls me her baby sister and she's an animal rights activist. I think that's cool. I also like Dan's human sister-person, Jordana.

Pet-Peeves:
I hate being hungry and lonely. I also hate having any doors in the house closed to me. I don't like holding hands or kissing and I especially hate the carry cage and being left at the boarding kennel which makes me sad. I hate Fleetwood Mac too.

Favorite Toy:
Toys are for kittens, but I like cleaning my claws on the blue couch and leaving fur on the bed sheets.

Favorite Nap Spot:
Once I fell asleep in the salad bowl, but I like to be in bed with Dan or I like to be Sun Puss when a patch of light steams in the window.

Favorite Food:
Dan-person is vegan, so I don't get to eat my favourite food, which is cheese, but I still get plenty of fish and chicken. There are some yummy vegan foods, like vegan not-burger, baked beans and bread.

Skills:
I have lots of really useful skills like furniture alterations, manipulation, making myself invisable, pretending to sleep, and hide and seek 'cos birds are scary. I can use telepathy to wake up my human in the morning.

Dwells:
indoors and outdoors

Arrival Story:
Dan-person and I have been together for about 5 years now. Before we met, I lived in a big house with a bunch of guys. Sometimes they would feed me and sometimes they would ignore me or kick me. On some days counsellors would come to see the guys. I don't think the counsellors liked me, they would talk about getting rid of me. I was always itchy, or hungry or cold or scared, sometimes all at once. One day I was alone in the yard, I had not eaten in days, and I heard a strange new voice calling my name. I knew I should be suspicious of new people, but I was so hungry, I was hoping to get food, so I ran up to see who it was. I didnt know it at the time, but I was about to meet my best friend and companion for life. "Hello Little One!" she said. "Will you feed me?" I asked. "There's no food here for you baby, I'm Dan, will you come with me?". I said "Where?" She replied, "We're going to take you where you will be looked after and loved". "What's that box for?" I said. "Don't worry, it's only a short trip" was the reply. Though I was scared and made it obvious as loudly as I could, until my voice was sore, I was secretly comforted by the fact that this person spoke fluent cat and answered all my questions. She took me to see a Doctor-person and get some medicine. Then later, she let me eat fried rice and did'nt yell at me or kick me when I picked out only the prawns and left the rest. Then she took me home and cleaned my fur, and now I think of her as my big sister.

Bio:
We've just moved house again and there's another cat - Jippy, I think he's manipulative. Dan-person loves him, but I know I'm still her number one kitty cos I get tummy rubs all the time, and I have a purple velvet collar with diamonte studs. I even have an amythest pendant which I sometimes wear. My bed is soft and Dan-person takes photos of me all the time. She's gentle and never yells at me or chases me, and she never calls me a 'pet', she introduces me as her companion. I love Dan-person, sometimes we have long conversations without saying a word, she loves me for the cat that I am, not for the colour of my fur, or the softness of my coat, or for my cattitude, but because we're friends. I feel safe becasue Dan-person doesnt eat or wear any other animals and fights for our rights! She's vegan but doesnt try to force me to be vegan too, afterall - I do wear fur! Finally, I'd like to say, you must be a cat lover if you are strolling through this site and reading my page. Please think about extending that compassion and love to other animals too. Never buy real fur and don't use products tested on animals. Often fur trim on small items like scarves and earrings can be rabbit, but sometimes it's even cat! Yuck! Where I live, in Australia, our government has banned the imports of dog and cat fur, but it's still creeping into the market here and all over the world! And remember SAY NO to animals in pet shops. Don't buy while homeless animals die www.saynotoanimalsinpetshops.com Feline Regards, Miss Scratchy

Dan person wrote some Japanese poems all about me, they are called haikus.

In the morning sun
She sits grooming her dark fur
Beautiful Scratchy

My little shadow
Puss of black fur and whiskers
I love her dearly

I've discovered a great new food. POPCORN! Recently, I've been having a great variety of vegan foods in addition to my usual feline fare. I love baked beans on tast - that's my favourite, and Veganpet cat food - I got a whole big bag for Dan's birthday and last night I discovered yummy, warm, crispy, salty popcorn. Dan recently has been doing lots of baking and cooking and buyng of treats. To tell you the truth, I'm a little worried about her, are humans meant to eat that much? - and she thinks I'M getting fat. You see that black and white drawing of me? Roni-person made it, she's a special visitor-friend. When Dan went to Melbourne, Roni moved in and I watched over her and looked after her until Dan came back. Anyway, Roni thinks I'm getting fat, that's why she drew such an unflattering picture of me, but I know not to take it personally, she's just jealous cos she doesnt have a winter coat like mine! Just below Ronis drawing is a lovely picture of me wearing my winter coat. I didn't know the photo was being taken, so I didn't have time to do my fur nicely and consequently look a bit messy, but certainly not FAT!

Helping to Help

While my human is away at work , I have been SO busy! I'm helping her to settle into her new home.

We moved into a new house. Dan-person must have chosen it especially for me because it has a huge sunny balcony where I can roll around. It also has lots of dark places for hiding from humans, and lots of thouroughfares and entrance-ways for sprawling across and getting in the way. In fact, the place has so many hidey-holes, I'm a little worried Dan-person might forget I am here, so I am busy grooming out as much of my fur as I can and leaving tufts about the place for her to find, you know, just to remind her I am here. I know she must love it when I do this because she has a special machine called a vacuum to gather it all up. She must be collecting it and storing it away somewhere, probably 'cos she doesn't have her own fur. You know, I am busy leaving cat furs anywhere I can reach!

I'm helping in other ways too. Dan-person has some great furniture, so I am helping out with some minor upholstery adjustments and detailing, just to add texture and definition. It must be so hard for her to do without the benefit of claws, so I don't mind helping out.

Anyway, she will be home soon, and I still have lots to do. There are some boxes stacked in the corner, filled with newspaper...I wonder if they need unpacking!
