Arrival Story: Bonzi was one of my feral rescues. He was just 3 weeks old when he was found under a garbage dumpster. The garbage collector had lifted up the dumpster and kicked the kittens (there were 2) over into the corner of the trash area thinking that they were rats! One of the janitorial employees there immediately saw that they were kittens and scooped them up and brought them inside. He knew that I was "the cat lady" at work so he brought them to me. Another woman where I work is also a cat person (her name is Cat) and she took one of the kittens and I took the other.
My husband and I kept Little Man (our first name for him) in a crocheted hat between our pillows for the first week we had him. He was pretty sick from eating the garbage under the dumpster, so we had a few rough nights. He flourished with his formula and was soon eating wet kitten food. During his first week with us his sister was found a few feet away hiding behind a box. She was a hisser and spitter at first, but came around with some TLC. They were both adopted out to a young lady who unfortunately forgot to ask her landlord if she could have pets. 2 months after the adoption, they were returned to us. I did not want to try to find another adoptee, I felt that they had been through enough, so my husband and I agreed to keep them. Bonzi is energetic and fun loving. He hides and jumps out and does what we call a "Bonz-ai" jump. He follows my husband all around the house, stalking him. Both of these new babies have stolen our hearts and have become a huge part of our fur-lined family!
