Arrival Story: I was browsing a local rescue's website in December to pick out an animal to sponsor. I came across Ray-Ray and saw that he was available for adoption as a special needs cat. He is diagnosed with a heart murmur and needs a family that is willing to take on his medical issues. I visited the site again in February and saw that he was still up for adoption. He's very sweet and cute but I guess the medical issue was making it more difficult for the rescue to place him. So I talked Brian into adopting him. Poor little guy needed us to rescue him and give him a forever home.
Bio: Ray-Ray has had a hard start in life. He was rescued from a suburban Virginia ballfield where people abandon unwanted cats. The rescue took him in and found a home for him. The adoptive family found out he had a heart murmur and decided to return him to the rescue. The rescue also determined that Ray-Ray has a heart murmur. He was in a foster home until we adopted him in late February, 2008.
Ray-Ray has fit in very well in our home. He loves to play with his brothers Foo and Milo. He has a lot of energy even though he has the heart murmur. Ray-Ray loves to call out to us from other rooms to eat or play. He has a cute little kitten mew that sounds like "woo". he's a pretty small guy compared to Mosi and Milo. Ray-Ray definitely is part Flame Point Siamese! He has light green eyes, a cute little face, and very soft fur. He has a great time playing in the kitty tent with a catnip mouse and chasing feather toys. We are working with our vet to further test and treat Ray-Ray's heart murmur. Ray-Ray is a sweet little guy whom we love very dearly.
Ray Ray just got over a URI. He was very very sick and he had to go to the Hope Center overnight. The doctors think that he is just prone to URIs due to his illness as a kitten and that stress makes him sick. I think he's been stressed by my feeding a stray cat that we've named Smokey. For now on, I am going to feed Smokey with out R2's knowledge. Ray got his bi-annual EKG while he was at the Hope Center. Again he was given a clean bill of heart health! We will continue to have Ray Ray get a bi-annual test to make sure there are no changes in his heart. He is over his URI and back to himself with all the energy, spunk and personality that makes Ray Ray Ray Ray!
In all the craziness that's been going on, we forgot to announce that Ray-Ray will be featured in the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue Foundation's 2009 Calendar! R2 won a spot in a contest held by LDCRF. There was a photo shoot at our house for R2. I don't know what month he will be in yet, but I'll post more after I find out.
