She thinks it's great fun to hide around the corner of the hallway and pounce on our feet when we walk past. Surprise!

She protests quite loudly when she's not allowed on the kitchen table.

Favorite Toy:
Her favorite toy of the moment is her Cat Dancer. She also loves her teasers with all the feathers and shiny strips of mylar. Oooooooh...sparkly!

Favorite Nap Spot:
In Daddy's recliner, on her window perch, and on top of the papers in my desk organizer (see photo).

Favorite Food:
She likes her Science Diet dry food, but she does enjoy an occasional Greenies cat treat. Though she doesn't actually eat them, she also likes to chew on my flip flops. Maybe she was a dog in a previous life? :-)

Skills:
If there were a kitty Olympics, Sophie would medal in the 50-yard dash, as well as the high jump. She can also steal your chair with the stealth of a ninja.

Arrival Story:
It had been a little over a month since our beloved Aggie went to the Rainbow Bridge, and we were still grieving and missing her terribly. My husband and I happened to be driving past our local Petsmart one Sunday and noticed that they were hosting a pet adoption day. We had no intention of adopting a kitten that day, but decided to stop "just to have a look". Famous last words! From amongst the pile of sleeping kittens in the cage, one sweet little face peered up at me and it was love at first sight! The shelter volunteer removed her from the cage so I could hold her, and a flood of emotions swept over me...lingering sadness over the loss of Aggie, as well as new love for this precious little creature in my arms. I knew at that moment that I was ready to open my heart and home to another kitty. We felt no need to look any further. She was the one. Oddly enough, the shelter had named her "So Furry", and just days before I had a dream that we adopted a kitty named "Sophie". I took the name similarity as a sign, and we brought our little Sophie home with us that day.

Bio:
The shelter volunteer told us that Sophie was one of a litter of kittens rescued from a garbage dumpster. Somebody had boxed up the kittens and abandoned them in the dumpster. :-( Fortunately, a kind passerby heard their tiny, frantic meows and brought them to the shelter. I believe she was destined to be with us. I'm very thankful that somebody cared enough to save her.
