Taking care of her kittens while homeless

Arrival Story:
Tammy started coming to the house the same time Sophie did. She was so hungry and was eating her food as well as Orange Man's and Sophie's. If I looked at her she would run back to the street. I trapped Sophie and took her in and then I caught Tammy, who I thought might be Sophie's mom and I took Tammy in on 10/18/2007 to be spayed. I brought her home on 10/20/07 and the next morning, she carried over the 4 Little Kittens and put them under the neighbor's car. She was letting me touch her when she ate by then, but was hissing when I went near the kittens. I got her in the carrier and the neighbors helped me get the kittens out of the engine compartment where they were hiding. I took Tammy and they kittens inside and they all became part of the family.

I had thought Tammy was feral, because she would run at first even if I just looked out at her, but it turned out she was just afraid and was also trying to protect her kittens. She is such a love kitty now and loves to give nose kisses.

I am mom to the 4 Little Kittens. It has been a joyous and stressful job.

Sadly, my little Kristopher passed when he was only 8 years old. He was a great son, even though he suckled until he was 2.5 years old. Wow!! I would push him back. He was undeterred. I would have to stand up from my comfy nap spot and walk away after a couple minutes. He sure loved his cat mom.

I was homeless when I realized I was having kittens. I found a house where Orange Man was eating. I explained my situation. He was a good guy. He shared with me. I kept needing more food. Mom noticed I was eating all of his food. He was a patient boy. Later I would hiss at him a lot. I should have been nicer to him.

Mom would open the door to feed us, I would run, Orange Man would scratch her. I don't know why she kept feeding us fussy cats, but I'm sure glad she did.

I wouldn't let mom get close. She couldn't get a good look at me. One morning after I had the 4 Little Kittens, I tucked them safely away and went for breakfast. Something happened! Mom had been setting food in a carrier, she had been getting closer, but I was getting more comfortable. But then, she closed the door.

Trapped!!! Mom put me in the car. We went to the vet. They said they were fixing me. I wasn't broken. Wait!! My kittens are waiting. Mom still didn't know, No one mentioned I had had kittens. Why?? I couldn't get out. It was a nightmare.

Finally mom came for me. I had a quick bite and ran for my babies. The were about 3.5 weeks old. Thankfully, they were obedient kittens and waited for me.

I decided after that scare I needed to get the kittens close to the food source, I brought them to the edge of mom's lawn. Mom looked out. She couldn't believe it. She came out, kittens went under the neighbor's car, I hissed.

Mom sat out by the car, talking to the kittens and making sure no one started that car. When the neighbors came home, mom got me back in the carrier and the after much effort and finally jacking up the car to get my last kit from the engine compartment.

Then we all went inside. Those babies hissed and hissed. I trilled at them. They settled in to suckle. They didn't hiss at mom anymore.

We had a home. We have been together as a family ever since. We had to move to take care of grandma, but we were happy because we had each other. Losing Kristopher was a real blow to our family. We are just trying to be there for each other and give extra loves to mom and Sophie, his girlfriend.

Over all, things worked out well for me and my kittens and I am a happy mom cat, even if those kittens do often crowd in to get things first. I keep them in line, I am the alpha cat.
