It's been a long time...

I haven't been here for ages, (you can't get the staff), so I was overwhelmed by all the lovely messages and gifts for Lulu, Rusty and me on our birthday. THANK YOU so much to all our dear pals, the passage of time does not lessen our love for you XXX
You may or may not know that I sent Mum two naughty ginger kittens last year; Rudie and Placido (we call him Cid). They are coming along a treat, only this morning they made me proud by leaving Mum the loving gift of a large dead rat, she positively shrieked with joy on discovering it...

Happy Gotcha Day Batman! And thanks to Tig for big help!

Before I go to the big news of the day, I want to thank my good pal Tigger http://www.catster.com/cats/990900 for helping me access Catster again!
Now to the Headline!
My little bro Batman is celebrating his Gotcha Day today! Yep, it's been a whole year since the combined efforts of two dear Aunties brought the little tyke safely forever home! Thank you Rachael Bell-Hughes and Lyn Yeomans for this much loved addition to our family. Auntie Lyn describes him perfectly as a happy go lucky little guy and Mum was thrilled to get Auntie Rachael's approval of his progress when she visited recently. He is a huge hit with all who meet him, most importantly all the neighbours who regularly report on his mad antics. He is freinds with everyone including Maurice, our visiting stray, the family of garden foxes, Mollie the Collie and the postman.
We love you Batman XXXXX

My darling boy died on Friday. Thank you for all your lovely tributes and gifts.
I am utterly, utterly devastated as I know are the families of Tigger 846901, Grub 698115 and Little Blaze 672521 who have all crossed the Bridge too.
There is great comfort in the kindess of friends, thank you all so very much. Maria X

Birthday thanks

With three of us celebrating our birthday yesterday it was quite a party! We were showered with gifts, good wishes, visitors and Angel dust.
Dearest Ishtar called round with a big sunny sun, a birthday chorus and a smoochie for Rusty which made him blush nearly as much as I did when she presented me with an extravagant friendship diamond. My furry cheeks had barely cooled down when the lovely Tabatha gave me a bright ruby heart!

Toki found the biggest sunflower in the world for me, cos it's my favourite flower and Lulu had roses from Riley, Skippy, Sparkman and yet another from her beloved Soc. We did brilliantly for cake; Angel Samantha made a heavenly catnip cake and Felix, Serena & Georgina brought yummy ice cream to go with it. Felix brought scrummy cuppycakes and Skippy, Riley and Angel Soleil turned up with ice cream to go with them - yippee! We washed it all down with an endless supply of zingy lemonade from Keisha, how did you haul that lot over gal?

When we finally finished stuffing our faces, we worked off a fair few calories playing with all the balls Tyson, Hazel Lucy and Sparkman brought along. Thanks to Tyson's special instructions not a window was lost. I'm hoping hard that the secret wish he gave me will come true!

Sparkman taught Batman to fly the kite he brought him as an 'unbirthday' gift so he didn't feel left out being the only one with a different birthday.

Meanwhile, as more friends called by, there was dancing and more singing, some of it was a bit scary, naming no names!

Finally we flaked out to chat and swap jokes whilst trying to pretend we didn't notice Soc and Lulu kissing....

It was a great day. Thanks to all of you and apologies if I missed mentioning anyone, it was all a bit of a whirl for this old furrrt! Big love Jaffa XXXXX

Eye rolling in progress

It's raining hard outside so no fight over curfew tonight, we are happy to stay in. However I see that BatMan is wedged under Mum's T-shirt while she is wearing it. A sartorial enhancement for her, but has he no dignity?

Funny Grandpaw tale.

Some years ago Grandpaw was in a coma and the worried family was told he might be aware of them talking to him but equally he could be irretrievably brain damaged, they'd know very soon after he regained consciouness.
Grandma was reading him a get well card when he finally came round. His eyes opened and Grandma hopefully finished reading the greeting from his pal, then asked him "Do you remember Peter?"

Granpaw's first words after a week long coma - "Peter?! That Old Git's still got my ladders!"

Please bear in mind my Grandpaw is an old fashioned gent with a soft Irish accent, makes it all the funnier. Faculties were all intact thanks!

Pigeon Detective..

Who left the dead pigeon on the rug this morning? There are 4 suspects; Me, Mum, Rustle and Batman. Let's examine the evidence and profile the suspects:

ME: I was clamped under Mum's chin all night and sad to say, an absence of teeth consigns my hunting days to the past. I did not get up until 10ish when Mum woke suddenly, gave a horrified gasp, rocketed out of bed, ran to the front room, squealed and ran back into the bedroom to phone a friend.

MUM: Got up at 6.30 to feed Rustle when she unlocked the catflap at that point. She was back in bed before I got cross, did not smell of bird and bore no tell tale feathers, she is rubbish at hunting and fake shrieking.

RUSTLE: Got up at 6.25, pestered Mum for food and left the bedroom at 6.30, returned approximately 5 minutes later smelling of Chicken in jelly, no feathers. In spite of being built like a brick privvy and 'The rat in the handbag' incident, he just didn't have the time to eat and do the deed.

BATMAN: Followed Rustle and Mum out of the bedroom at 6.30, returned 10ish, with feathers in his mouth and very agitated. No track record of hunting and smaller than the poor pigeon.

When Mum called the hospital tonight, the nurse said Grandpaw is in good spirits and is "a lovely gentleman, if only all my patients were so charming". We think he has been kept in longer than needed to make the nurses happy - look out Grandma!

Gifts

We can't read the messages attached to the gifts we have received over the past few days, so we are embarrassed as to who to thank. Is this just us? Can anyone suggest a solution? We are very thankful for all the support you have given us and all the purrs for our Grandpaw. If we haven't thanked you for a gift it's cos we don't know who it's from, so thank you!
Grandpaw is improving and with luck will be sprung from his maximum security hospital ward very soon. He will remain under close and fearsome observation from Grandmaw, so probably needs more purrs than ever. MOL, sooner him than me....Jx
