Arrival Story: Smokey was my mother's first pet. Her parents, mother in particular, didn't let her have one growing up. But, he sat with Pop every evening while he read the paper and really became Nan's cat. Nan and Pop spent the summers at the Jersey Shore, and while Pepper stayed at home with us, Smokey traveled with them. The first time I ever saw Nan cry was when she came home to the Shore house without Smokey.
Bio: Smokey's most memorable behavior was his "love taps." When you, human or dog, passed him he reached out and "love tapped" you on the ankle.
