Arrival Story:
We got Opal when we discovered that Izta, the best cat we had ever had before Opal, was suffering from PKD. Izta's breeder was devastated when she heard the news. She had all her cats tested and had to retire some from breeding. She offered us a special deal on the litter of kittens she had at the time. We picked Opal because the breeder's daughter, who slept with the kittens, said Opal was the most cuddly. She was right. Opal's become a little more dignified as a grown up, but when she was a kitten she loved being held and petted so much that you could pass her around the room.
Bio:
Opal is a Zen princess. She is confident that she is the center of the universe and the most beautiful cat in the world, but she accepts it as part of the order of the cosmos and never lords it over lesser beings. She's famous for her perfect paw placement. Her front paws are always perfectly arranged, but what separates her from the also-rans is is the placement of the hind feet. She never loses her chenille mouse under the furniture. While it sometimes misbehaves and needs a bit of whacking and nipping to set it straight, she also likes to nap with it and carry it all over the house. Because of a malocclusion, it's especially important to brush her teeth to keep the tartar down. She thinks the poultry flavored toothpaste is a treat and is always perfectly well behaved for her tooth brushing.
