indoors Arrival Story: Hello kitties and your humans! My name is Kahlan. I am a blue tabby who was born on April 15, 2004 (Tax Day!). I was born outside to a feral cat my human mom named Aphrodite.
I've been living outside since SuperBowl Sunday, 2008. I got out when mom went to feed Charlie and she didn't realize it. Two weeks later, she saw me eating on the porch. She and dad tried to catch me countless times, but I would not let them catch me. Every time I would see them in the window, I would run away before they could even open the front door. Mom hasn't seen me in several months. She is very sad. :( She hopes I am okay and I am just roaming around the neighborhood somewhere. There are lots of kitties in our neighborhood and it is quite safe, so she hopes I am sharing food with other kitties. She was hoping that I would come back when the cold weather came along, but I haven't yet. She thinks about me everyday. Bio: I am named after the lead female character, Kahlan Amnell, in the "Sword of Truth " fantasy series by Terry Goodkind. My human mom, Laura (I call her my meowmie) befriended my cat mom in February 2004. Aphrodite came for food every day and started to trust meowmie. It took a long time though for my cat mom to trust her. Aphrodite even let meowmie put a collar and tag on her in case something happened to her while she still lived outside. Meowmie can't even get Isis to wear a collar! Unfortunately, Aphrodite became pregnant again when I was 2 months old. Meowmie tried to catch me so many times, but I always got away. Meowmie first saw me when I was about a month old. She followed Aphrodite to the bushes next to someone's porch where we lived. I had a brother, but he disappeared suddenly when we were 8 weeks old. He was blue and white. Meowmie was heartbroken and tried to find him, but she never found out what happened. She wishes we could talk and tell her. Look at me in the picture when I'm about 3 months old and I still lived outside. Then I winked at her and said, Heehee, you can't catch me (look at the other pic)! Finally, I started to trust her and she caught me. I purred right away. My momma and I lived inside for a day, but we both wanted to go back outside. We were meowing a lot and the lady that lives below us doesn't like noise. A couple of days later, when I was 4 months old, I disappeared. Meowmie was heartbroken again and was worried sick about me. Aphrodite came for food, but I didn't. I came back 3 days later with a urinary tract infection. Meowmie and my human dad took me to the nice ladies in the white coats at The Cat's Meow clinic and I felt so much better! By then, my new humans were already attached to me after they took me to get fixed up. So from then on I became an indoor kitty. No more sleeping in bushes for me. Aphrodite came meowing for help at the door on August 20. She was in labor. It was a good thing meowmie didn't have to work a long shift that day. She presented meowmie with four kittens (2 boys and 2 girls)! All the kittens have white paws like mom! But I didn't get any white paws. We don't even have the same eye color! I have pretty copper eyes. Whoa, now there were 8 cats in the house! I liked to help out with the kittens. I would groom them and take care of them when my momma was tired and wanted to rest. When people ask meowmie why she didn't name me after a goddess, she says, "There were already too many goddesses in the house!" Isis doesn't like us very much; she chases us around. Meowmie always has to remind me that I don't live outside anymore, so I don't have to eat my food like it's my last meal. My human mom and dad call me Bulldog sometimes because I sit like a bulldog (look at my two outside pics). Hi kitties! My mom chose this song for me and dad said it was the perfect song for me! Since I am a former feral-- I was born outside in some bushes and I lived outside with my cat-momma until I was 4 months old--I still get really nervous and scared. Mom and dad say that sometimes I have this scared look on my face and my eyes grow wide. Every little thing startles me! But I am the lap kitty of the house and mom is proud of me that I trust her so much.
