Arrival Story:
Rani is my mother's cat and I thought she should have a place on Catster as she is so much a part of our family. Rani came to me as a foster cat at barely 6 months old and pregnant. She had belonged to students who could no longer keep her as they had to move on. She was a very confident cat and had obviously been much loved and had a lot of attention. She had four lovely kittens but was not a very good mother - she was really only a big kitten herself! When the kittens were suckling she would stand up and shake them off if someone approached her cat house (pen) and would demand attention. The kittens thrived though and were all healthy as she must have fed them through the night when it was quiet. When the kittens reached the playing stage, Rani would take all their toys from them and when she'd had enough would give them back to her kittens. After she was spayed, vaccinated etc. and her kittens had been homed I brought her into the house to socialise with my cats. She ignored them all except Jack and they became very close. My mother's cat Timmy had died 12 months ago with kidney failure at 17 years of age and she was so upset she said she wouldn't have another cat, then one day when she called at my house she saw Rani and asked about her and I said she was waiting for a new home, to which my mother replied, "well she's got one now, if you get me some litter etc.and food I'll take her home". They have now been together 12 years and are devoted to each other. Wherever my mother is, Rani is not far away. Now my mother is housebound and not in the best of health, Rani is her special companion and they would be lost without each other.
