Arrival Story:
She was surrendered to the rescue for whom I volunteer. She took the surrender REALLY hard... then we lost our adoption site, so she needed to go into a foster home with 2 hours' notice. She moved in with me and was so terrified of the other cats and me that she would bite and attack me unless I completely showered before entering her room. I would leave my clothes with her to get used to my smell, then the other cats' smells, yet for 4 months she was scared and defensively aggressive. I would sit in the room for hours and she wouldn't come out... I kept at it though and now, 7 months later, I am typing this with her having crawled in my lap and fallen asleep, living free-range with me, all 9 other kitties and the dog. She finally feels safe... I don't know if I can put her through that again.
Bio:
Miss Jasmine defines torti-tude! She has bitten EVERYONE - including the head of our rescue. And I'm not talking about little nibbles, either. You pet her till she's done, on her terms and then you'd better back off - being de-clawed, she can only fight with her teeth. Now, she has learned how to do a "warning" strike, that is gentle. She hasn't broken anyone's skin in 3 months.
