It was time fur me to go, my furriends....I will miss all of you here, but I am re-united wif my beautiful Sally Maria and many furriends who had already flown to the Bridge.

My Momma was so sad to let me go, but I held her face wif my eyes and told her, "Momma, I NEED to fly...I need to go, even though I don't WANT to leave you".

She cried and we cuddled and as I fell asleep in her lap, she told me she loves me furrever and will see me again when it's HER time to fly to the Bridge.

Momma told me that I hold a piece of her heart and that many other people and furs will grieve and miss me, but that I should go and be healthy and young again.

I am able to REALLY FLY wif my new wings! I ran really fast all the time on Earth and I could jump really high, but wif WINGS, I can achieve new heights and goals!

My sweet Sally Maria and I will visit our furrmilies together efurry night and watch ofur them efurry day while they go about their lives. We both love all of you and we hold plenty of angel dust to sprinkle around as needed....thank you, my furriends, fur all the fun, love, support, paw mails, rosies and purrs!

My Sally Maria and I are back from our elopement! Whoo-hoo!

As most of you know, my Sally Maria and I have been engaged for some time…. (I don’t remember the actual date I proposed….sorry sweetie!), but it was during an Olde Furts outing and we had all been staying in the cave near our beloved Pie’s Breakfast Club gathering room. Heehee! I think I really surprised my Sally Maria when I folded my paws down to her and held out the ring and asked her to marry me! She said yes…of course! ☺ We talked it ofur and decided that we wanted to elope and have an adventure together!

I have been trying to come up with an original, romantic and fun wedding ceremony for MONTHS! I finally decided on a true medieval theme wedding. I wore a white flowing shirt, velvet waistcoat with silver embroidering and a blue and black velvet cloak with black pants and riding boots.

My lovely Sally Maria wore a medieval dress with elaborate green, purple and gold with a wine red velvet cloak that she took off after she was presented and before she walked down the “aisle”. You see, we had our wedding in the beautiful forests of Northern California. Sally Maria’s furrmily lives in CA, but not up North. We decided on nature as our church and had a lovely older lady-cat from the forest help us say our vows to each other and officiate at the most impawrtent event of our nine lives! She did a purrfect job of it and we will be furrever grateful to have been honored by a forest cat. Our officiator’s name is Daru and she actually lives in those Northern California woods!

The wedding was beautiful, after which we had our celebratory dinner there in the forest with all of Daru’s clan sharing our feast! We ate our food medieval style - no forks or spoons. One plate and a knife was all the guests had with a yummy buffet finished off with fresh fruit and catmint and catnip wedding cake!

My Sally Maria and I found a spot where a log in the shape of a rainbow had been strategically placed among a bed of flowers. This is where our wedding photos were taken and when we get them back from the forest clan, we will share them wif all of you!

We then decided to take a nice walk and after about 1/2 hour of strolling, we meandered down to a cold stream for a drink of water and rest. I didn’t know that Daru had organized a surprise for us! There stood a white horse and a carriage decked out with flowers, waiting for us to take a ride around the forest!

My puurty Sally Maria put on a big grin, pauses, says "Cool!" and happily hops into the carriage. I joined her and we road off through the cool Northern California forest. The forest clan members were present, placed here and there throughout the forest to cheer and clap their paws fur our happiness!

We saw interesting plants, flowers, and lots of fish in the streams. I could hardly take my eyes off my wonderpurr bride; she was so delighted and lovely! Afterward, we headed back to the forest clan’s home to spend the night celebrating. They had all dressed up in medieval costumes and had decorated the area to look like the medieval period. We had a wonderful time! There was MORE food, the horse and driver were there and the pawrty got purrty rowdy, just like the REAL medieval times!

I wanted to give Sally Maria a story that she would be excited about telling, one that she would be telling for the rest of her life. She was in her glory that day and I am proud and happy to be her fur-husband and her furrever love!

Thank you all fur your continuing love and support of both of us…we are the happiest couple on Catster. Although it might have been nice to have our furriends from Catster and our furrmilies, we know we did the right thing in eloping and spending time wif our NEW furriends, the forest clan of the Northern California woods!

Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr…………… ☺

My Sally Maria....

I just wanted all my furriends to know what's going on wif my sweetie, Sally Maria...the love of my life and my furrever love!

She had her check up with Dr. Hansche and wrote to me to let me and Momma know how it all went.

The news is not good. :-( Dr. Hansche thinks the lymphoma is no longer in remission. He could feel that Sally Maria's intestines are thicker and inflamed and that her spleen feels off.

Sally's Mama told him about her poo being different and the gurgles in her tummy and those are symptoms that support the diagnosis. The only way to be 100% sure is for my sweetie to have another endoscopic biopsy but her Mama and Dr. H don't want to put my poor sweet girl through it.

The Dr. gave her a script for Budesonide, which is a specialized steroid that should reduce the inflammation and swelling in her intestines. There is a slight chance that it could cause fluid to build up in her lungs, which would mean heart failure.

Both the Dr. and Sally's Mama feel that it would be better to try to make her more comfortable and fail than to do nothing. Dr. H. didn't say it, but her Mama understood that this is my Sally Maria's last resort. The chances of her cancer going back in to remission are zero so all they can do is to keep Sally Maria comfortable for as long as possible. It all depends on how quickly the cancer moves.

Sally's blood work also showed some changes. Her white blood cell count is still within normal range, but the red blood cell count is down and she is borderline anemic. This could be because her kidneys aren't working as well anymore, as her BUN and creatinine are up too. If the red blood cell count continues to drop, there's an injectible medication they can give to help, but sometimes kitties on long term chemo get a non-regenerative anemia and not even those shots can help. They might change Sally's diuretic to something a little more kidney friendly but first they want to see how she does on the Budesonide.

Needless to say, Sally Maria's Mama is very upset. She knew something has been bothering her sweet girl, but she was hoping that it wasn't this. Average length of time in remission is 2 years and the end of this month would be Sally's 2 year anniversary. Sally Maria's prognosis was only a couple of months because of not being able to take the prednisone portion of the chemo protocol but somehow she managed to do just fine without it. Her Mama says it's because she likes to make the humans look like they don't know what they're talking about! That's my girl!

I don't know how much time my sweet Sally Maria has left, it could be weeks or months, but I know that I'm going to do my BESTEST to make the rest of her life the most wonderpurr bestest it can be! She is my bestest furriend and the love of my life and beyond.

I will do anything fur my Sally Maria and her Mama! She calls the shots wif me and I've told her that!

Purrlease, my furriends....will you purr fur my sweetie? She's the greatest girlkit furriend, fiancee and the bestest furriend a boykit could efur need and she deserves TONS of purrs and PoP and love and prayers and all things good and positive to help her through this tough time.

Her Mama does too because she loves Sally Maria as much as I do and has always done efurrything possible to make Sally's life good and Sally Maria knows what it is to be loved completely and unconditionally...isn't that what we all deserve?

The original Rainbow Bridge Poem....for my Pal, Calvin....

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
