Arrival Story:
** Oscar left on August 9, 2009 at 4:30 am at home. He was at least 14 years old. He had liver disease for the past few months of life, and ate and cuddled less, but stayed his sweet self until the last day.** How I met Oscar: I was walking down an alley in Chicago on a cold November day toward my apartment. After I passed a dumpster, I heard, "meow?" I turned and saw this face looking right into my eyes. When I walked toward him, he ran behind the dumpster to hide. So I continued on my way, and I heard "Meow?" again. And again, I was not allowed to walk toward him. So instead, he followed me all the way down the alley so long as I did NOT walk towards him! He followed me like this into my apartment building and all the way to the 3rd floor until I finally picked him up and put him in my bedroom onto a warm electric blanket. He purred so loud he had to open his mouth. I put up signs to no avail, and he's been with me ever since.

All the pictures here are before going on raw food, except for the one where my brother is in a paper bag, and the last two pictures. The one where my brother was in a paper bag was taken before I got sick and lost my fluff. My mom started feeding me canned food then, and I got better but never grew back my fluff, as you can see in all the other pics where I'm cute, but not fluffy. I wasn't getting all the nutrition I could out of the commercial dry and canned food combo. A few months after going on raw food I got sooooo fluffy that my mom had to shave me like a lion!

Wow do I love to eat

I love to cuddle (and eat sometimes)

Like every normal kitty, I have days I love my food and days where I can take it or leave it. A couple days ago I wasn't running to the food bowl, so my mom hand fed me some and I gobbled it up. Then I went to my bowl to finish the rest! Sometimes I don't feel like eating but if I don't eat it, Charlie will! So my mom's glad I got a good share the past few days before Charlie stole mine. Then when I'm done I stretch out in the sun that comes in through the glass doors in the kitchen. Ah, life is wonderful.

I have been SO cuddly lately! My mom loves to feel my super soft belly, she says it's so warm! Even though it's still in the 80s, I still like to lay in my new electric heated bed. Mom put my bed next to the dog's bed, and they are both near her bed! So when mom's boyfriend is feeling allergic to me and I can't cuddle them in the bed, I go in my bed or cuddle the dog, who keeps my face clean with his licks just like my kitty mom used to do when I was a baby. I love that!

My mom has been cuddly too. This morning I was sitting by the glass door looking outside when all of a sudden she scooped me up and took me to bed with her!!! I got to cuddle just me and her for like an hour before she got up to go to work! It was the purrrrrfect way to start my day!

I'm a lion!

My hair grew in so thick and full from my raw diet, that for the first time ever at age 13 my mom had me shaved like a lion. All I know is, I was comfy and sleeping on the couch when a mobile groomer pulled up in our driveway in his "Wiggle Waggle Wash-In Waggon." Then I was pulled from my peaceful slumber and taken into a torture chamber where they poured water on me, put some weird smell on me, clipped my NAILS, and shaved off much of my fur!!!!!

I was so embarrassed at first. I was so naked. My belly was completely exposed and my brother Charlie couldnt recognize my smell and picked fights with me for 3 days.

But I must say that I am now a much happier kitty. I am glad the torture is over, but man it is so comfortable and cool! I look just like a lion and I even act like one. When Charlie picks fights with me now I just walk straight towards him, calm and collected. I sit in the window and watch over my kingdom. I can walk and run and have no pulling on my skin from the mats that were there before. This is the life!

The last two pics of me are from after starting on raw. The last one is me shaved as a lion, and the one above it is how fluffy I became 5 months after starting raw!!!

I never used to come running to eat until my meowmy switched me over to raw food pre-made!!! Now I eat it all up before my big brother Charlie finishes his, and then I go and eat his even though he is more pounds than me!

I have been having diarrhea on and off for 2 months. I have not had any diarrhea since the switch to raw, but it's only been one week, so paws crossed!!!!

My meowmy doesn't know if she's crazy, but she thinks I already look healthier and fluffier. I don't mind if I don't get fluffier, because when I was fluffy my mom was always pulling out my tangles. I would bite her!!! (But I was nice when the vet did it. Don't ask me why, I was shy I guess.)
