Arrival Story: In 1995, I had a dream that I was trying to catch some feral kittens. The only kitten that I touched, in the dream, was a white kitten. I interpreted the dream to mean that I was supposed to get a white cat. I answered a newspaper ad for kittens and the man said he had some white kittens. I went to the house, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I could smell the cats at fifteen paces from the front door. The man was elderly and VERY eccentric. The ammonia inside the house was nearly lethal. The man couldn't find his white kittens and thought he might have given them all away but he couldn't remember. He produced a whitish kitten with gray ears and double paws. I said I'd take the kitten. I took her home and she proved to be the meanest, orneriest kitten I had ever encountered. She pounced on my face while I was sleeping and clawed me, she spit and clawed me when I was feeding her, she refused to be cuddled, she was just awful. She refused to be box trained. Her one entertaining trait was that she collected small objects like rubber bands, paper clips, pencils, and hid them under my pillow. I would go to bed at night and put my hand under the pillow and there would be all this STUFF under there. She darkened into a beautiful lynx point Siamese as she matured.

Bio: Her original name was Mehitabel, after a cat character in the Archy and Mehitabel books by Don Marquis. When I met my husband, the first time he ever came to my house, he came in and before I could warn him not to pet the kitty, he reached out his hand and she neatly laid the back of it open with her claws. He said, "Wow, what a Psycho Cat!" And the name stuck.
