Arrival Story:
My beloved cat Harley had died, and I was devastated. I was having a hard time coming home from work because Harley would not be there to greet me. I thought adopting a cat that needed a home would help take my mind off my sense of loss. So my sister took me to the Cobb County Animal Shelter to look at cats. I wanted a Maine Coon-type like Harley. Ramses was sitting in his cage like a sphinx, as if he knew he was too good to be there. He was not demonstrative, but I thought such a regal cat needed a good home. I decided to adopt him. When I was filling out the paperwork, they warned me that he had bitten his owner when his owner came to turn him into animal control. I said, "Good for him!" They asked if I still wanted him, and I said yes. He turned out to be the quietest, most well-behaved cat you can imagine.

Bio:
A couple of months after I adopted Ramses, he started acting lethargic. He was off his feed and losing weight. I tempted him with everything I could think of, but he did not want to eat. The only thing I could get him to try was ice cream. The vets ran a bunch of tests, and meanwhile Ramses was getting sicker and sicker, not eating at all and sleeping most of the time. The vets finally said it was FIP, and I was forced to make the decision to put him to sleep. Ramses deserved so much better in life, and I can't help feeling that I failed him in some way. I try to console myself by saying that at least he had a home where he was loved for the last few months of his life. He was a good cat.
